He used to make me want to poop my pants watching with his crazy runs, but Leapin' Leo remains one of my all time favourite Swans. Actually run into him at a home game last year as well - was a big thrill

Absolutely - but don't expect anything to come from it, bar whining fairypuppies fans trotting out the 'we are harder at the contest and that's that' line that they always do... That reasoning can explain some of the variation, but not all of it for mine.

MCS - what's damning & ridiculous about this stat.?
As others have said, 170 legal tackles for not one single free kick fro HTB and incorrect disposals. No matter how good a team is, such a stat is utterly absurd. Its up there with us playing more than half a game of footy in the Grand Final and not getting a single free kick awarded to us. Statistically possible, but highly unlikely.

Yes but it highlights that the umpires are now on notice re the free kick count heavily favouring The Dogs notwithstanding their rags to riches story has been remarkable.

Haydn Kennedy says blah blah blah.
Agrees with umps on all decisions including Mills. No surprise there.

I am shocked, a Victorian newspaper calling a Victorian team the Umpire's Pet! But pleasantly surprised. Maybe these guys will be under greater scrutiny now.

I have heard the doggie fans saying that they get more free kicks because they are harder at the ball and the first at a contest. The problem with that is that from my re-viewing it looks like the majority of the frees where for htb or incorrect disposal which relies on the other team having the ball first.

Yep Dosser that's where the fairypuppies argument falls down. The other issue is the frees not paid against their team, for things like incorrect disposal, throws etc...

One thing that always surprise me is that the umpires are still semi professional. Is there any other professional sports league in the world with a situation like this? its laughable!!!!

Sorry I honestly thought that organisations that big would be more professional. My apologies.

Vindication. Good to see some acknowledgment of the problem. The umpires are finally being scrutinised. Call the game based on play, not on the colour of the guernsey.

To be fair, the Mills decision was correct under the new interpretation. No arguments from me on that one. This change is for the better and will only serve to make AFL more exciting.

.....and their income/bank details are not scrutinised to guard against corruption, as they are in all other major football codes worldwide. The AFL is the only major football league in the world that does not do this........yes, laughable!!
