Last year's topups aka NEAFL Development squad played a significant role in the 2016 team's success. All but one of them (Veale to SANFL) have transferred to Sydney Uni this season and hopefully this new batch can be as talented as their predecessors

    Of the new Lions:
McCluggage is a goalkicking midfielder with good kicking skills
Berry is a versatile player, capable playing midfield or at either end of the ground
Witherden a good user off half back
    Cox is a speedy wingman
Lyons, brother of Jarryd, is a inside midfielder.
Eagles is the winner of The Recruit Season 2, and is a ruckman.

That's a very strong Lions line-up. Hopefully they'll be a lot more competitive in the NEAFL this year than last. On paper they should win comfortably, but Shaw (and Crouch before him) have instilled a strong discipline into the NEAFL side and they invariably punch above their weight in talent.

3.1 to 3.2 at quarter time. swans skipped out to early lead but have been pegged back. If only skill level matched their endeavour. Goals to Cameron, Sinclair and Dawson. Rose with the solitary behind.

Who is going well Liz? Is Dawson playing ok? How about Cameron? I think we might just need either him or Sincas next week
