Gold Coast really did become Cold Ghost of a team.

Who will coach them next year, could be a graveyard job, although there is talent up there. Also got picks 2, 19, 22, 24 & Tigers 2nd in this years draft to add.
If Richmond win which they should, we'll play Essendon @ SCG, probably Richmond @ MCG and if we win that rematch Adelaide @ Adelaide Oval, hopefully with fairer umpiring!Comment

better than Freo's 1.7(12) over 4 quarters of footy in 2009. If it wasn't for kicking 1.3 in the 3rd quarter of their round 15 match vs the Crows, they essentially kicked 0.4 in 3 quarters of footy (the first, second and final quarters of the game)Comment

Thanks for that - very helpful.Yes, on that assumption:
If Richmond win it will be Essendon > loser of Geelong v Richmond > winner of Adelaide v GWS > GF (Geelong).
If St Kilda win it will be Melbourne > loser of Adelaide v Port > winner of Geelong v GWS > GF (Adelaide).
My expected opponent in bold. Reckon latter path slightly easier, but really should make a prelim either way.
I think the latter path is quite a bit easier. The two teams that worry me are Adelaide and GWS. The only other team I think are capable of winning it are Geelong, and we usually manage to account for them pretty easily. Richmond & Port are good sides, but not in the same league as the real contenders, and Melbourne and Essendon have had good years, but I don't expect the to win.
I think the final four would be more representative with us in it and Port/Richmond out, but when you lose your first six games, what can you do?Comment

The other assumption is that West Coast doesn't beat Adelaide by enough to eclipse Melbourne or Essendon's %. The latter scenario would require WC to beat Adelaide by a lot more than Essendon beat Freo - very unlikely. If they do overtake Melbourne and finish 8th, we'll play them under the latter scenario. Thanks for that - very helpful.

Anyway, I agree with the rest of your post, particularly that were a top 4 team. I guess we now need to prove it.Comment

Ironic the AFL wanted to move Norf to the Gold Coast but Brayshaw & co resisted keeping them in Melbourne and Tasmania. Led to the 18 team comp we now have.
Must say I enjoyed the Geelong result last night.Comment

AFL's fault. Could have been Southport FC entering the comp instead n you would have a soul, history n money in the bank instead of a made up plastic toy.Comment

Waleed making a good case for all games on last H&A be a shotgun start (same time).
Adelaide have nothing to gain today but injuries....
Richmond are actually better off throwing the game today to avoid the teams that will probably beat them .Comment

You've got to beat those sides eventually to win the comp.Comment

Yep, that's the path I'd prefer. Id be quite happy to play Melbourne in a fortnight given that Viney is out. No Viney, no Melbourne. I'd also prefer not to play Essendon and Richmond. They are our hoodoo sides. We're perfectly capable of beating Geelong and Adelaide away, especially Geelong. Thanks for that - very helpful.
