I agree with Doctor, they were too tall and kicked too long. Hitting shorter targets have to be a priority to beat Richmond.

      AFL 360 - Grand Final 2012 Montage - YouTube

      Some inspiration before tonight.

The lead up play to the Reid goal was the highlight of the game for me.

Umpiring found to be 'sub-standard' after AFL Grand Final review | AFL | Sporting News

While the AFL agreed that the overall umpiring performance on the day did not have a direct impact on the result of the game, it did acknowledge the performance was not up to standard.
The Thing that amazes me , which job can you be criticised for doing a sub standard job and then later on be rewarded in a field where there are many quality candidates? Meredith is doing tonight's and Stevic's tomorrow. I am willing to bet within a probability of 99%,they will both be on the field come grand final day.

A Collingwood supporter is bagging me out today because I'm not travelling to Melbourne to watch tonight.
Reckons I'm not a real fan.

            At least we're playing, mate.
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.

Nevertheless, I think the fact that the report concluded this shows they weren't happy. And if we want to play "Conspiracy Theories" then here's one - AFL leaked the report because they couldn't publicly criticise the umpires but wanted to make a statement.
Yes, recall can be problematic for all of us: a lot more than most people think. I'm having a similar problem at the moment, as my recall is that there was a Fox article, that said that the AFL were intending to make an announcement about the GF umpiring. However, the only Fox article that I can find on the subject, is the one linked to by annew, which makes no mention of an announcement. So maybe my recall is wrong? Maybe I just can't find it? Or it is possible that the article has been amended, but there's no statement saying that's been done, and usually, reputable news organisations do include a statement if they change an article at a later date. Of course, I'm not really sure if Fox counts as a reputable news organisation?
And I suppose that there's a small possibility that the article was a result of an AFL leak. But there's also a possibility that the story was a result of an idle rumour, or it could be a case of a journalist just making crap up. Since I have no way of knowing if any of those possibilities are true, I don't plan to waste any more neural energy on the matter.
Though what has always bugged me on the issue of the GF umpiring, was the almost total lack of interest by all the sports journalists and all the talking heads involved with AFL. You'd think that with one story saying that the AFL had determined that there were a number poor decisions in the GF, then at least a few would want to ask the AFL administration about it? Or if there had been episodes of Whistleblowers for every week of the season, that examined controversial umpiring decisions, but for some reason, there was no episode for the most important game of all, then you'd think that someone in the AFL media industry, would say to themselves, "well, that's a bit odd, maybe I should investigate that". But no, nothing. What, did they all think, "great, the season's over, see ya next year"? To me, that total lack of curiosity, leaves me scratching my head.

With our boys unexpectantly gone ... sorry ... I'm cheering for Richmond.

In fact I'm going to the prelim to cheer them on with Tiger fan Bruv.

WC weren't much opposition tonight. Can't help wondering if for GWS, that game will turn out to be like our Bombers game: the easy flogging before the demise. With less than 1/3 the crowd, obviously.

Stay calm. Lucky for you that Ludwig is offering a Grand Final Exorcism special for those suffering from demonic possession.

*Note: This offer is not available for barry. Some cases are too insufferable even for Ludwig to cure.

I hope the Tigers get smashed by GWS so Melbourne has to talk football instead of "Tiger Time". Then I hope the Crows come through and beat them in the Grand Final. I'm tired of fairytales and I'm tired of the commentariat barracking for the home, i.e. Victorian, team.

I'm simply not interested in the rest of the season. Usually I will have a team to back, but this time...well.... GWS- ewwwww, Richmond- UGH, Adelaide- ICK, I like Geelong, but cant see them beating Adelaide...

As for GWS, a friend, who is a Swans supporter and part time GWS fan decided that he no longer wanted to follow GWS because he didn't like the way they played. He is a family man and used to take the kids out to Spotless, but he now says he finds their 'cheating tactics' and 'rough play' a turn off...

I just thought that was interesting...

Hope the Crows get through and win. They have been the best team all year and may have to play on a Victorian team's home ground despite finishing top, like Freo, Eagles and Swans before them. A Crows v GWS game would be fairer being on a neutral venue; a situation that should be normal state of affairs for a national competition( or on highest ranking team's home ground).

I agree, the Crows have been the most consistent team all year and they have been competitive for a while now without anything to show for it.

GWS and Richmond lack the finals experience, one of them will give a good game in the GF but they aren't good enough yet to win it. Fairytales be damned. Let the best side EARN it for a change.

Geelong are inconsistent and they will not be good enough to beat Adelaide. They got smashed by Richmond, and Adelaide will bring similar pressure.
