On reflection the game was won off the back of 2 extended sling tackles that weren't rewarded free kicks and a soft supposedly extended tackle resulting in a free kick to Burgoyne. I thought our odds were too short for us to win the game.

Any chance our players can ever be coached to man up, its the same old tactics that we haven't been able to combat for 5 years. Making it far too easy for the opposition again. Does anyone no think we win a premiership with Longmire? No chance he is constantly out-coached!Comment

Excuses, excuses, excuses it has to stop. Hawthorn have beaten us the same way yet again despite the fact that their older players are creaking and over the hill. Forget the umpires, they didn't give them an additional 65 marks. When will Longmire get the players to man up on Hawthorn, every other team that has beaten them has stopped their uncontested marking, without it they can't win.
Time for a complete mindset rebuild. Longmire must go, he is a one trick pony. After 0-6 start he had every opportunity to try new things but simply can't.
Did anyone not think Hawthorn was coming to play that way!!!!Comment

Agree- Hope we lose every game from now on and Longmire gets the boot. Feel like tearing up my membership. Pack of losers out there and ALiir Aliir cant get a game. Are you serious Longmire???? Same old tactics by Clarkson, little dingy passes, uncontested possessions almost double ours and Longmire does nothing!!!Comment

Our team was not good enough to overcome a team that had a point to prove. Hawks were dismissed before the game started and had plenty of incentive.
Lack of players on the interchange hurt us. Our baby players just lacked the nous to get us through. This will change as the games they play help accumulate the experience they need to succeed. We can still play finals
The future is so bright I need to wear shades.
I JUST HATE BEING BEATEN BY HAWTHORNComment

Horse does deserve criticism. Yes he won a flag, but it isn't like he inherited the Lions. He had the benefit of coaching a stacked side. This season is likely to be a fluke in many ways...the Swabs are still in MUCH better position than Hawthorn. But the Swans need to continue to push and improve the youngsters. Sure wish Cunningham was out there, too!Comment

There is no way the loss can be blamed on umpiring though - we were 7 points up and shut up shop, instead of continuing to take the game on and finishing them off. They got luck as they always do and we paid the penalty. Would of liked the clear HTB free to be paid in the dying seconds though 30 out from our goal though - Hawks player took possession took a player on and dropped it cold. But the umps had swallowed the whistle by that stage..."You get the feeling that like Monty Python's Black Knight, the Swans would regard amputation as merely a flesh wound."Comment

We have probably had the best collection of players in the last 5 years, at the least a midfield better than anyone else's. You say we won 1, I say with Clarkson at the helm, or a tactically astute coach we probably win between 3 - 5.
Hawthorn play a non-contested kick and mark game because they can't play hard in and under. So do you think the coach might have prepared them by saying you have to play tight and take away their marking. Sure we will lose one-on-ones but do you think losing say 10 of them would be more damaging than -68 marks.Comment

The worst part about that call was that the roles were reversed in the GF last year and Jack was still penalised, with a 50m penalty to boot! Clearly the rule makers need to sort the interpretation out.Comment
