Match Day Rnd.10 Sydney V Hawthorn. 19.50 pm. SCG.
I believe the Swans are mentally soft when coming up against Hawthorn after being bullied and unprotected in our matches with them, especially the 2014 Grand Final. The coach with the small man syndrome words up his players to attack the Swans. We are not naturally a rude aggressive side...soon as this happens they all drop off. We made a heroic effort to catch up despite being two men down. Unfortunately as usual, Hawthorn get a dodgy free kick near goal just when they need it. Works every time ????.
Last weekend in Sept 05 - The best weekend of my life!

Tippo was rough up, was it just after half time?, by two hawthorn players and no one can to help him.
But a player his size shouldn't need help; they know he is a total pussy and weak as water.
We lost two players to concussion. Up until a few years ago they possibly would have played on (rightly or wrongly). We were terribly hamstrung by being two players down due to a medical protocol. If clubs are forced to not let those players participate any further in a game, there should be scope to replace them.
Apart from many other things, that was the main reason we lost last night. Particularly with someone as important as Lloyd off after a minute. Unfortunate.
Like I said in another thread the killer was losing 2 players very early plus these 2 were very important structurally. If someone said at the beginning of the game Hawthorn would have 4 interchange but Sydney are only playing with 2 most would say we're done for the night. I did disagree with Rohan at half back though as It robbed Franklin of help up forward. Mills season reminds me so much of Heeneys last year, 2nd year blues in the first half of the season. Needs a circuit breaker. Release him to midfield or half forward n allow him some time were he actually cut his teeth as a junior.
Pretty much the story of the night. Hanners gets many things wrong. Can't question his courage, hard running and ball winning ability but he does make a lot of errors.
Neil Cordy had Towers and Parker in the best in the HS.
it shows that hannabery could not give a stuff, like most of the players last night. Game is on the line so why not give Roughead another 4-5 meters closer to goal.
Lighten up on Mills, mates! Trust me, he is beating himself up over this one. But he was last year's rising star and he is going to be a leader on this team. Most rookies have a bit of a sophmore slump as opposing players get to know there habits and bully them a bit. He turned 20 a month ago...he is still a boy! You have to fail before you succeed and hopefully this experience will be something to learn from as he grows as a player!
Yes, I noticed that at the time. It is simply inexcusable. That's the sort of thing that gets drilled into under 12s. How an experienced professional can make such a fundamental error, particularly in those circumstances (where every metre counts) is beyond me. Another reason why I think we have nobody to blame but ourselves for this loss, despite clearly being cruelled in the umpire-gifted-goals and momentum-sapping-incorrect-calls stakes.
The 36k crowd were pretty underdone, very quiet, appeared very tired, hadn't come to play, needed a lot more immersive sound to help the players and very poor booing when NO kick-to-kick was announced .
Have to lift against the Fairy Tales.

In a city of over 4 million people, 36,000 fans is pretty poor for a Friday night.
WOuld have been better to go to the game and watch it LIVE - rather then listen to the utter bias dribble from the Melbourne commentators on FoxFooty again, & being lead by their glorious leader Bruce McAvaney.
Apparently hawthorn never does anything wrong, & the Swans should be penalized for every play. Really tough to listen to AFL commentary

This has always been my biggest letdown when watching our great game. Wish Fox would offer the game without commentary and just crowd noise like they used to. Last night wasn't as bad as Thursday though. That was just plain barracking at its worst.
And I hope that letter gets treated with the contempt it deserves....
Agree whole heartedly my goodness we have had some knocks over the last few years (like wrongful trade bans) yet we have played in finals every year since 2009 I bet there are 8 or so other teams that wish they could say that. Injuries have killed us this year but are we so smug as members and fans that we think we automatically should be in finals every year. It's a hard road and swans have rewarded us members and fans very well. Just maybe some of our players like Buddy, Kennedy, Parker Hanners, Grundy, Smith etc who have played finals year after year after year need a mental health break that the pressure of not playing finals brings and along with introducing some new blood and a top draft pick will ultimately benefit us. I have belief that swans will benefit from this year even if it means we have some blow outs in the second half of the season to try and change things and bring in other players. Go Swans!
