Gold Coast haven't scored a point since the 1st quarter.

And didn't look like scoring from the bits I've watched. They are a complete mess of a club!

Back from the Riser, and there was a lot of noise tonight - much like this thread after p. 7!

Buddy was amazing. He had good support in Rohan, Parker, Kennedy, Rampe, Smith & Jones (I like to pair them), Heeney and everyone else - no passengers to be seen anywhere. Sammy was good forward and back.

Harry was good without setting the grass alight - rather indicates how much more we get from Papley. Deano seems to be the team handyman, worked solidly. Hard to pick who'll go out for Dan; I guess most would pick Hayward but he did well tonight, and Carlton is not a dud outfit, despite the score.

        Go Swans!
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

I forgot to mention two great things tonight.

          1. When the Carlton player got injured quite close to the spot where Rohan broke his leg, Rohan actually went over to see how he was doing and I think waved the trainer onto the field. Gary showed great sporting spirit and decency in this case.
          2. The standing ovation for Lance Franklin after he kicked the 10th and the chant of Bud-dy around the ground was spine tingling. Wonderful game by Franklin and seriously one of the best individual performances I have ever seen. ( member for over 20 years now.)

Depending on how bad Tippett's injury is, it will be interesting which of our three ruckmen get picked. But I would possibly have Sinclair in front of Tippett now.
Also thought that Rohan was spectacularly good at times tonight; while our defence all had good games, especially Mills.
But hey, Buddy! First Swan to kick ten this century.
I thought sinclair's second half was great. Kreuzer took over he the second quarter, but Sinclair put a stop to his dominance. Sorry Kurt it may be your last game for the red and white.

Tippett too fragile. Got to be Naismith and Sinclair from now on.

This game perfectly captures tippetts swans career - started well then got injured.

Too risky to pick him in a final imo even if his upside is better. Just too brittle.

Loved seeing Hewett trying to hand off to Buddy late in the game to try (unsuccessfully) & give him another one

But one thing I don't understand ... Buddy is allowed to run across George's wasn't he? Just not the Carlton player? If that's true, why couldn't George handball to Buddy (ie play on)? I know that Buddy usually runs around the back (away from the man on the mark) but the Blues would have been looking for that. Or have the rules changed since I played (which was a long time ago, I must admit).

That was a lot of fun - I love the forwards kicking bags. Buddy was awesome and it was a good game to take my 5 year old. I really like the twilight games - best of both worlds for kids.

I was really impressed by Rohans game.. It was a great 4 quarter effort by him. Fingers crossed he stays injury free and keeps playing at this level for many years. He is so hard to match up on. I love our Ginger Ninja.

I agree that Sinclair was very good. Tried hard. Four tackles, six marks, five inside 50s. I've been keen for Kurt to play finals, but Sinclair should, with Naismith.

I think the ump was still setting the mark or was totally confused by the tactic.

Has anyone heard anything about Hewett's injury on the final siren? He landed awkwardly in the marking contest and limped off the ground with the physio/doctor. Really don't want him to be injured!

We are going to benefit from the week off especially now that we can't make top 4.

great win by the boys. But I do agree with Horse that the second quarter was very disappointing. We let our intensity drop incredibly in the second. Our pressure was nonexistent. Our boys were not providing and run, we were stagnant. If we are to win a flag we have to fix this now. We can't drop off in the second and let sides back into the contest. We did it last week too and if they had kicked straight we may have lost the match. The other thing is we did exactly what we did in the second last week we kicked out of defense in panic. Can't do that in a final you'll get punished. I'm just glad that in the third we lifted our intensity and gave them a real flogging. We needed to do this and without two mainstays we brought home the bacon.

Too lazy to make a list - but Buddy's 10th goal has to make the top 10 Swans SCG moments. Reminds me of when Jetta finally got his first goal - not a moment which is relevant to the outcome of the game - but the passion and roar of the crowd was electric. Great moment
