It was a good effort from our boys today as GWS had a much stronger side in with 4 Murray Bushrangers from Albury playing. These guys are still in the GWS set up but not draft eligible to them. Basically if they live in a NSW town but play in a Vic comp they are not tied to them.
The 2 big boys, Babic & McAndrew both did quite well but both also turn 20 this year so a bit older than most guys.
John Longmire's nephew Jedd played in the Futures game for GWS as a 16 year old, #28 for those who watched.

Did not watch this Academy game. For those who did, how did our ruckman perform? From Academy plays the patient game , Jared Crouch gave us some perspectives of our talents and mentioned that " The Academy has unearthed two young players more than 200cm tall" and they are developing well with Steve Taubert, our Ruck guru coach them!

Oh praise the Lord, this is what I've been waiting for. Some home-made giants.

Most interest is Errol Gulden who's playing in number 12 for the Bulldogs. They also have a few other current academy players in Thorne 4, Gaden 13, Olsen 29 and Geddes 1. Both sides have a fair few ex-academy players and each even have an ex-Swan, in Hiscox and Towers.

According to Dr Google, the Adam Dunkley who's playing today is the nephew of Andrew.

Andrew has two sons- one playing for the Western Bulldogs and another who has just been delisted by Melbourne.

This is almost certainly a cousin. Andrew's brother has been involved in local AFL for many years and that's probably his son.

I loved Dunks as a player. He was a formidable defender albeit with some shocking disposal at times. A shame we didn't / couldn't pull the trigger on Josh and that Andrew apparently dislikes the Swans.

Wasn't a bad game. Thought that in second half, Thorne and Gulden got on top in the midfield. However, throughout the day, Sydney Uni had the more effective forwards.

I actually didnt think it was one of Guldens better games. Was okay but didnt tear it up and you dont win a game purely on your forwards , someone has to get it to them and Sydney Uni were better generally across the park.
