Of course they will. It's not as though they are sacred or something like that. numbers are just numbers no matter who wore them. I know people have this thing about say Bobby Skilton wearing number 14. But Skilton was very happy to be giving his number to players. mind you come great players have followed: Kelly, Bird, Mills. Skilton nearly change to number 7 in his second year at the Swans but only relented beause so many kids already had his number on.

The Great Neil Kerley wore number 1 for Glenelg and it wasn't retired after he did. He saw it as only a number that denoted he was captain and therefore drew the cheap shots from opponents. Mind you Knuckles gave out plenty too. As much as Hannas has been good remember Lockett, Matthews, Neagle, wore that number and were great players. Garry's number has been worn by Quade, Robertson, Len Mortimer & Jolly. So I think let's continue making champions by numbers.

Gives them a free hit. As I understand it they haven’t drafted him, but he will train with the club. I guess if he behaves himself they’ll take him if not they lose nothing.

What happened to those players that were training with the Swans before the draft?

Many on this site have had comments about the Swans website and the lack of info. Well, they are not at it as usual. While the stories about all the squad back in training including the draftees, the AA story of his mowhawk and a few other stories, have a look at the player list, they still list all the players traded, delisted etc. Hanners, Rohan and Newman all have number 0!!!! And the delisted players are all still there as well as the rookies. All other sides have these players off tgeir lists already. See how long it takes the Swans to update tgeir player pages. Hope this is one key area Harley addresses

I saw footage of Menzel training and his muscles seem bigger than when he was at Geelong.

Mills seems to have bulked up too...although we haven't seen him training since he tripped on the drain so he was probably working out while he was injured.
