I"m no expert. I just hope Longmire continues to be as awful as he apparently was today.I don't think the win takes away from the reaity of the problems that the coaches have in dealing with Longmire. Today Longmire refused to man up. Instead he allowed an extra back for them. he allowed this for two quarters, the middle quarters. Funnily they actually seemd to get on top in those quarters. As soon as Longmire re-instituted the man on man scenario we started to win the ball again. If you have belief you can win you will. but if you don't believe in the game plan you will get flogged. We were at the precipice just before three quarter time. But Longmire relented to his line coaches and re-instituted the man on man scenario.
What that did was free up players all over the forward line because the Cats players had to match up a player. The mids got more confidence in banging the ball in and keeping it low. Notice they kept the ball as low as possible and not just bombing it as they did in most of the second and third. I'm certain that this was forced on Horse by the line coaches. I say that because I have seen matches in which Horse has refused to change the game plan and we have lost. Especially against Hawks. My opinion is objective truth in its purest formComment

Scott did same thing in final quarter when we were dominating in the midfield, just as Geelong were dominant in 2nd and third. Longmire is not Robinson Crusoe in this. Dunstall criticised Longmire about it, but he has never coached in his life.I don't think the win takes away from the reaity of the problems that the coaches have in dealing with Longmire. I think we just started winning centre clearances ( which is rare ) and dominated the quarter from there. We wanted it more and we took it. Pretty pathetic bagging the coach after an epic victory. Last week surely but this week ? After we won in amazing fashion ? Pull your head in wolfie, and give us a massive spell. Enjoy the victory mate !!!I don't think the win takes away from the reaity of the problems that the coaches have in dealing with Longmire. Today Longmire refused to man up. Disagree. I think his execution should be done in the light of day.
I woke up in Dubrovnik at 6 AM wondering what time the game would start, logged in to AFLTV and it there it was, just starting. I'm glad I was too busy to post this week because I'm sure I would have said a lot of things I would now regret.
We really need Josh to make our game work. He found form just at the right time. Also pleased that Ronke got his chance and made the most of it.
Taking a rest day now in Petrovac Montenegro. I'll try to watch the NEAFL game and maybe a replay of the Geelong game.
This season is looking a tough one to predict.Comment

Why does he end up with our games all he time? Notice he did not give Heeney a free kick in the 3rd quarter when he got slammed to the ground from behind when he was about 10 meters From the ball. But overall he was not as bad as usual (remember the 12 to 1 free kicks in the second half against the Bulldogs)? Loved Ronke'sdebut.

G'day gazza I certainly wasnt on facebook and Ronke did really well. The GREAT thing is Cameron banged down the selection door in the NEAFL - at just the right time.
This game just impresses on me the need to play players who are fit! You cant carry injured players nowadays. Even Buddy was trailing off a bit round by round so if affects even greats in the end.Comment

There was more flexibility in our gamplan again yesterday
Using uncontested footy really well when needed
A very fast agile team was the Swans yest and our hunting pressure sustained the 4qtrs
Pretty awesome efforts newbies by fox and Ronke to stand up and makes points stick when so desperately needed
You could also see the actions Hayward, Ollie , mills , Cunningham and Heeney really really wanting the win........imposing themself on the game
With so much pushing off the ball in full flight permitted this season the lighter framed players like Cunningham can have much more of an influence in winning or contributing to contested footy"be tough, only when it gets tough"

Ronke looks to have genuine speed which is always handy for us. I had hoped Brandon Jack would make it as he certainly had speed to but couldn't find the ball enough. Ronke certainly has the background to go on with it.Comment

Plenty of pressure acts by Hayward through the game (getting a late fist in to kill a marking contest, for example) with getting the ball. Tough and exciting final term, the highlight of which for me was winning a HTB free against Dangerfield.

Yep, he's having a cracking year, making a very important contribution each week. He'd easily be top 5 in the BSM.Comment

Wolfy, what we did in the last quarter was finally win the contested footy and hit targets. Were you in the coaches box; how did you know the other coaches influenced John to change things up;psychic perhaps. You may have noticed that we had the last 12 centre clearances. Yes the last 12. Maybe the coaches changed things up in there or was it just that the players went straight for the footy instead of trying to block the opposition. When you get that much first use of the footy it puts enormous pressure on a defenceI don't think the win takes away from the reaity of the problems that the coaches have in dealing with Longmire. Totally agree.Watch what Papley did to get the ball out to Hayward for the sealer. THAT'S why he's there. There was less of it this week, but watch how often he hits the ball at high speed because he just knows where it's going, or somehow manages to extract it from heavy traffic. You can't teach that. It's just natural instinct for the game.
He is an automatic selection every week as far as I'm concerned.Comment
