Hannas; Needs time in the reserves. He is an acute example of playing players on reputation alone. He always takes about three to four games to come good and play decent footy after an injury. This time it seems he is more restricted than normal and needs to regain match fitness over a period of time. That is what the reserves are for and that's where he should be until fully match fit. He is a wonderful player but even wonderful players have bad patches and this is a team game and individuals who are not performing in the team structure need to play reserves. (12 disposals)

Kizza; He uses the ball so poorly at times and at other times so well. But he has been patchy at best. his ball use has ruined several very good plays that should have resulted in easy goals. This to me is unforgivable for an experienced player. I can forgive a novice but not a senior player who should be leading by example. He is not getting much possession either and is not impacting the contest like he once did. (14 disposals, 2 clangers, 2 dollies)

Gazza; I know Gazza has had a terrible year emotionally, physically and sociologically. I am well aware of that and the stress engendered by the loss of a child. But the stress of AFL footy would not be doing him any favours at this stage either. I believe some time in the reserves to play the game at a more comfortable level without the high stress environment of AFL would be what the doctor ordered. (9 disposals, 6 clangers)

Nick; I think if the coaches are serious they need to play this bloke in a position where he can be damaging. That position is either mids or half back not on a wing or forward. He fluffed one kick so badly I was astounded. Even a wonderful kick like Newman has been affected by our training players to lose their skills.
    (11 disposals, 1 clanger)

Riley; For an outside mid he did not get involved in play enough. He needs to get 20 at least in that slot. (6 disposals, 2 clangers)

Harry C; Dear, dear Harry. He has been playing well. This is what saves him. That and the fact that when he does get the ball he seems to impact the contest. (13 disposals)

Time to send a message to senior players that you have to earn your spot in a Swans side. That is why other teams win premierships and we are still the bridesmaid on too many occasions. We play injured senior players rather than play depth. We give senior players a free pass even if they are not playing well. Time to stop that. We have the depth use it.

My phantom selection committee notes. We have an 8 day turnaround before the Saints game and then a 6 day turnaround before we play the West Coke Eagles (who will be coming off a bye). I think we need to get some support in for Sinclair so I will bring in Darcy Cameron to debut against St Kilda. It's good to have 2 tall targets anyway. So who goes out for Darcy - I think it's Stoddart. He hasn't done anything wrong though.

As much as I like Newman as a player he seemed a bit lost against Carlton playing in a wing/forward role. Towers would play that role better.

The game against the Saints is an opportunity to rest players. I'm looking at Hannebery and KJ - who are both struggling at the moment.

Defensively, I'd like to bring in Aliir so Rampe can be freed up to play the loose man in defence rather than the KPD. But who goes out to allow this - I want to keep Marsh in the team. For me, it's Jones into the midfield and Aliir into the defence.

      out Stoddart in Cameron
      out Newman in Towers
      out Hannebery (rested) in Aliir

Still undecided about how to get Papley back into the team if he's ready to play - maybe Kieren Jack needs a rest.

However, we know that the horse likes minimal changes and like for like changes.

It beggars belief that we are still debating the inclusion of Cameron in the senior squad. If Sinclair picks up an injury against St Kilda, we would potentially be going into games against WCE, Tigers, Cats and North with a pretend ruckman (Towers) and/or a novice (Cameron) with no senior ruck experience (or Buddy into the ruck?). No matter how well the rest of the team plays, our season will effectively be over if Sinclair suffers a long-term injury.
In risk management terms, that is an appalling outcome. In business terms, if a manager took that kind of risk, he'd be out of a job. How can football managers get away with it? No shareholders, I guess.

I don't see how giving Cameron a game or two beforehand makes much difference.
If Sinclair goes down, our season is over.

We don't know what Cameron can do yet, may be a revelation at senior level!

Rest Buddy, Sinkers, Joey, Ramps, Parks, Reg. If they go down our season is over.

Buddy actually went for a ruck last week. I hope he doesn't make a habit of it.

EDIT: just realised that may be last weeks injury list on the AFL website as it's undated, a lot of other clubs are dated today, we wait I suppose.

AJ played reserves last week. The only reason he would be listed as test is if he had soreness. I see last weeks injury list. ok. Then he isn't sore and no test. AJ was pretty ok on his return and was running the backs. We have a formidable back team at the moment. I don't think too many talls, even AFL standard would feel great playing Maibaum in the NEAFL. So far he has played on all the Brisbane talls, all GWS except Cameron, on all but Lynch at Suns. He also gets the best forward from the non AFL aligned teams every week and beats the lot of them. Aliir is now a major hurdle to all NEAFL teams as the Brisbane, Southport and Sydney Uni games show.

Harley seemed to think Dawson would play this week. I wonder if Brown, Foote Bell will be back this week?

Papley a given once proved fit, Robbo given another senior chance after taking his own ball to NEAFL games, McCartin surprises me as he hasn't contributed enough at senior level IMO, would have preferred debuting Cameron just to have a look at him. But I'm not as smart as the Match Committee :-)

Melican, Reid and Bell all back after the bye, hopefully!

If Sinclair goes down with a major injury, agree we have a big problem. But introducing Cameron to the team for a couple of games might help ease the workload that Sinclair is shouldering, and reduce the risk that he just gets sore.

Family Feud? Cameron and Amartey are both playing better than McCartin in the NEAFL, but the AFL and the broadcasters forced us to include him so they would have something to talk about to fill the time in what is likely to be yet another boring game.

                              Cameron is definitely 2018?s Dawson.

I?ve been telling myself they are ?saving him? for the Weagles next week.

Re: McCartin, I guess the Swans thinking is Tom will play well because he'll want to show up his big brother..... Re: Robinson, he has been killing it in the reserves (good Neafl player, ?AFL player?) but ultimately rewarded for good form and Paps, well that was a gimme.....
