While I fully understand the provocation Rance inflicts on Buddy, with all Buddy?s experience he really needs to be disciplined enough not to retaliate. It is always the retaliator who gets penalised (as the retaliation is the obvious infringement).
I said that last night after it happened.....that Buddy should know that the umpires are so ready to reverse, esp, where he and their 'love child' Rance is involved.

I see it like this too. Vlastuin's elbow was out in the open for all to see. Parker kicked the goal and played the game out.

The Buddy / Rancid incident. Rancid targeted Buddy unnecessarily - it wasn't an accident. Buddy retaliated but the vision was a bit obscured. I thought Buddy hit him with an open hand to the chin - didn't go near his thorax. Another Swan then pushed Rancid who then put on a big act. It was blatant acting.
Buddy - below the level of force required for any sanction.
Rancid - fined $1500 for staging - again.

The thing that stood out to me about Buds taking a swipe on Rance was that Rance's forearm was on Buddy's neck. That's a lot of pressure considering Buddy was pinned on his back and I think it's cause enough for him to lash out at Rance.

Oh I quite agree that Rance?s deliberate push down of all his weight on Buddy?s neck as Buddy was lying on the ground was the very understandable cause of Buddy hitting out.

If MRO looks at Buddy, they better have a damn good look at Rance?s actions as well.

Wasn't there an incident a few years ago when Brian Lake was choking Drew Petrie and he retaliated by eye gouging Lake? If I recall correctly I don't think that Petrie was suspended. I know that what Rance did wasn't the same as choking but he still had his arm pushed down on Buddy's throat. And what's worse is that the umpire was standing right next to them so surely he saw what was happening??

Hmm, the bye. It's true, we are now 3 wins / 6 losses after byes, since 2011 when they were reintroduced. But that puts us about in the middle: some teams go worse (Geelong! only 1 win after a bye), others go better (Hawthorn, only 1 loss after a bye).

Difficult to say anything statistical as there are so few "post-bye" games compared with "not post-bye" games. But here's a chart anyway (to 2017).

What you really want to know is which of those games were they expected to win, which would involve getting historical odds for all the games...for another day.

I think this comes about as a result of the times when no one contests for the ball and it is marked unopposed (which I find just as frustrating). Having a settled lineup helps - and we are getting better at this.

As an anaesthetist who deals with over 1000 airways a year, Rance's actions were staging to the extreme. I felt embarrassed watching him!

Buddy love is free to roam.
                          Copped a fine.
Rancer the Dancer should cop a week for having his elbow in Buddy's throat in the first place.

I?m surprised he?s even been fined. Looked like an open hand, pushing motion in reaction to Rance?s arm pushing down on his throat.

Rance should be ashamed of the way he plays football. Here he is 'reacting' to a Lance shove on his shoulders.....

....and after he reels away, he stumbles pathetically as if he's been stunned in some way. He is an embarrassment to football......he'd be right at home at the World Cup.
