Very good third quarter, after a hard fought first half. Rose impressed me today. He seemed more inclined to do the team thing and spot up a target, rather than blaze away from around fifty.
Many other good performances. Robinson did plenty of effective work in close. Cameron once again put a bit of pressure on the selectors. O'Riordan looked like he was channeling the coach, with plenty of fast paced interventions, from the half back line. Aliir played well and AJ looked quite slick when he came on.
The toppies may have more depth than in previous years. None that I noticed looked out of place, while Stewart looked very handy.

I only watched the first quarter, but just looking at the stats it looks like Fox didn't play in the 2nd half at all. I know AJ didn't play in the first quarter but he was also statless in the 3rd quarter. Does anyone whether he played that quarter?

AJ on the ground in the 3rd quarter - 1:48:?? in the stream.

Am I missing something or who is Stewart? Is he on our list or a top up?

He's a member of the U19 academy development squad - ie a top up.

I got the feeling watching AJ, (what little there was to see of him), that this was more like the old confident AJ than what we saw last year. I hope that is the case, it would be magic to see him back in the seniors.

I caught the tail end of a story in the media this week that sounded interesting. Apparently there is a plan to bring back the AFL reserves which would be great for us and the other northern clubs if true. Did anyone else hear about this?

I think the talk of bringing back the reserves came off the news the AFL banning clubs doing pre game warms on the ground, leading to speculation this could be clearing the way for reserves footy?

Another good performance from Cameron, Beating Tabliabue in hitouts is no small achievement. He also had big numbers in marks and I50s. Looks ready to senior call up.

Fox was also impressive for a half of footy.

Rose is having a good year. He's not the write-off some think he was destined for this year. His overall game is really solid. He had 7 tackles and was aggressive and clever with his ball use.

We have a fair number of players with form warranting a senior call up if required.

The toppies have gone from fill ins that need to be avoided to a seamless and integrated part of the team. Kudos to the academy producing numbers of players comfortable at neafl level.

Further what a joke those allies selectors are. An 18 year old like bailey Stewart dominates two weeks in a row at neafl (and racked up similar numbers in the div 2 comp) but not good enough for allies. Meanwhile bunches of kids from Queensland, gws etc continue to get their 10 touches in neafl, but somehow are better than Stewart and get into allies.
You would think that the swans academy must be about ready to tell allies to get stuffed and showcase their talent in neafl rather than putting up with the bs politics that goes on now.
