    Fulltime

    @swansreserves 12.8 (80)
    @LionsNEAFL 7.9 (51)

    Goals: Dawson 3 Reid 2 Bell 2 Newman Johnson Kannan Marsh Wicks
    Lions: Bewick 2 Sloan Starcevich Wooller Keays Stackelberg

    Disappointing to lose that quarter 1.3 to 2.3

    A pretty comfortable victory for the Swans, who were untroubled by losing 3 key players before the game (Fox, Robinson, Towers) and 2 during it (Stoddart, Styles)Reid and Melican both played 3 quarters. Reid in particular moved well and kicked 2 goals.

    Nic Newman had another eyecatching game 30 disposals 5 marks 10 tackles 3 clearances 8 rebound 50s and a goal.Harry Marsh was our leader in defence 23 disposals 4 marks 6 tackles 4 clearances and also a goalJordan Dawson kicked 3 lovely goals 23 disposals 4 tackles 7 clearances.

    Darcy Cameron had a tough matchup in Archie Smith, but won the hitouts 46-29 along with 17 disposals 5 marks 5 tackles 6 clearances.Jordan Foote was prominent in last quarter - finishing with 25 disposals 5 tackles and 5 inside 50s.James Bell also kicked 2 goals but faded late

      Though being off the field, since around about quarter time, didn?t stop one of the commentators looking at Luke Parks, having a bit of a think and then calling him, Styles. Waiting for that decision to be made, was a bit like watching bingo balls being spun.

        Did AJ come back on after he injured his shoulder?

          He didn't come back, but he wasn't mentioned in the injury count on the Swans' website. Stoddart went off with concussion and Styles with an AC joint injury.

            We've just got to jettison senior passengers, so many knocking down the door in the ressies.

            Usual suspects, but pity about the short turn around with a Thursday game so looks like the replacements will come from the three late outs.

            I'm going again but we just have to give Dawson a senior run, stupidly didn't play him when he was on fire last year and he gives a point of difference in the forward line. If he's not tried again this season and requests a trade I'll spew!

              The more the club ignores rising talent to play 'old favourites' in the seniors (Hanners, Jack), the more they threaten their healthily deep list as the desire for these 'up and comers' to try possibilities elsewhere rises with every non-promotion.....Newman, Towers, Marsh, Dawson, Fox, Cameron, O'Riordan and Maibaum must all be getting a tad impatient and some of those mentioned who have played seniors, even a tad annoyed. I don't mention Robinson as I think he'll be traded anyway.....

                And as soon as the likes of Robinson, Foote, Newman, Rose et al are rewarded for their reserves form and selected in the senior team, it?s close to a certainty that a couple of posters will declare their selection robs the team of any chance of a win, and that a few more will join in when they struggle a bit in their first game back in the senior side.

                  and like with Murray, other clubs see value in them and will target them after 2-3 years in our recognised excellent development system.

                  Newman is gone for sure, after last years debacle Dawson will go if we don't play him, Cameron is killing it in the NEAFL and don't understand why COR hasn't been tried.

                  Rohan must be dropped and only brought back if he really has good NEAFL numbers, KJ is cooked, lost dash and shimmy, getting caught too often now. Match Committee must make calls on these guys as they will not win us a flag as shown Thursday night.

                    That's the Murray currently in the Pies's VFL side after they realised he does have limitations that became exposed after a handful of senior games?

                      Agree Liz. Perhaps the easiest second round pick we'll ever pick up.

                        So, a question for those who watch more ressies than me this year.

                        Last year, Dawson seemed set to go as a big bodied midfielder rolling forward a bit.

                        Similar role this year? And if so, would you play him that way in seniors or more as a half forward rolling up to the midfield occasionally?

                          I watch most the games broadcast in Neafl TV. Dawson played on ball a lot today. He?s a bit like Kennedy in that role - big body, quick hands, really solid. He?s also got an awesome left boot and can take a mark. We really need to give him a good run in firsts, maybe at half forward initially (? In place of Rohan) with some time on ball.

                            Dawson has to be better value than Rohan.

                              Yes similar role. However many players get a run in the NEAFL midfield that would never do so at senior level so I wouldn?t take that as an indication of where he would play at AFL level.

                                I agree with your general observation, but I've heard Harley refer to him as a strong bodied midfielder so it sounds like they do see him playing in the midfield in due course (at senior level).

                                He could probably do with another week or two in the NEAFL side but I can see him coming in to play the role Rohan is currently occupying (a medium sized marking forward) if or when the coaches lose patience with Rohan's output. He obviously doesn't have Rohan's extreme pace but is capable of contributing in the forward line in other ways.
