It was the kind of game the AFL would hate to see. Lots of congestion without enough talent to effectively get the ball to the outside and find some open space. GC has their pressure game on all over the ground and put up a better effort than their senior team has in most games.

We lost a bit out our run in the 2nd half without Rohan, Bell and Stoddart. Bell looked to be concussed, but not sure about Stoddart. The disposal count was 456-319 in GC's favour, which pretty much tells the story. When we had the ball, GC's pressure made us cough it almost immediately.

Dawson was everywhere. Does it all. He had 212 DT points. He has to play in the seniors next week. We can't make the same mistake as last year and let the season go by without having him in the senior team.

Rohan played mostly in defence, as I thought he might. He wasn't all that convincing as a defender, but he did manage to get into a lot more of the play with 11 possession in a half of football.

AJ move well and is starting to put together a few solid performances.

The NEAFL app stopped working for me around half time (coincidentally the same time my fully charged Fitbit also stopped working). But just restarted my phone and checked the full time stats and saw him credited with 23. That’s insane.

Agree with the comments about the game being under umpired but don’t think it cost us the win. Both sides were denied some clear free kicks and GoldCoastwerethebetterofthetwo sides out there today. There are only so many good players you can promote to the senior team before it starts to have an impact. And the loss of both Bell and Rohan didn’t help the Swans’ cause.

Dawson on fire, DON'T repeat last year Match Committee, get him into the seniors and get him settled for the finals. Last year's non selection was criminal.
