      Thanks SeanM.

Reinhardt is the player I noticed a bit last Saturday against UNSW but whose surname I couldn't remember. He's still a bit skinny but he looked confident playing at that level. Rogers and Carroll are two that I remember as being pretty good in last year's U18 championships, especially the game against the Gold Coast academy at Blacktown.

One name missing from the list that I'd have expected to see there is Jack Hardman, given he was one of the few academy prospects mentioned as a draft potential last year. Does anyone know what he's up to? Given his age (31/12 birthday) it's possible he's remained in the main academy programme, rather than graduating to the U19 squad? Or maybe he's moved interstate to further his ambitions?
If I remember rightly a Reinhardt played possibly in 2016 but I think his name was Jack not Joey. He was also skinny. He kicked a few goals in one match, 5 or 6 I think.

The main focus of the game was to give the listed players a run so they were in the primo positions.
The game was pretty messy as it was a complete mix up of the academy and neafl teams.
The only thing to report is that Blakey was best on ground. His ability to get in the right spots was uncanny. He was utterly at home and dominated across the ground. He was the only non listed player who got a run in the midfield where again he just found the ball all the time.
Who ever gets him will be getting a player ready for senior footy.

thanks barracuda but could you tell me who arethe listed players who played? It would be interesting to know who the club considers needs extra game time.

That was Ned, his older brother, who is now on UNSW's NEAFL list.

Since when does UNSW have a NEAFL team? I know Manuka oval has been renamed UNSW and that Sydney AFL games are played at the oval at UNSW but they are the only UNSW connections to AFL I know of.

Yes, reflecting on it, I figured that was what you must have meant too.

Personally, I believe that the Academy should be used to enhance the game in NSW and QLD. Where there are dual/multi-sport athletes, that are not quite sure which path to take, the Academy should be there to encourage that player to our game. Not there to poach sons of 359 game players that would be playing the game with or without the Academy.

I mostly agree with you BUT we have put "nearly a decade" of work into him. Surely this gives us some claim?

But if the academy wasn't there he may in fact be playing soccer or rugby/rugbyleague.

Or simply if the academy did not exist, the elite training programs would not exist to get a player to the level required to be drafted.

The father is unlikely to make a huge difference if the player is not able to play against and train with other elite talent within elite training programs.
