Is Longmire cooked?

Apart from Brereton, Mark Robinson is very harsh on his criticism of the Franklin deal insisting that it has a been a failure because they haven't won a premiership with him. Buddy has been an absolute success and when they win a premiership with him it would be a real bonus. As has been well discussed the 2016 grand final was stolen from the Swans, but alas history can't be changed.Slightly off topic, but on AFL360 tonight Dunstall & Brereton had an intense discussion about Longmire's game plan. No secret Brereton has long been critical of Longmire's game plan particularly how it doesn't suit Buddy against good teams. Dunstall was in strong disagreement with Brereton, making the point the Swans would have not made top four & play in 2 GF's without Buddy. He was also strong against the notion the Swans need to win a premiership to justify his signing. Dunstall thought Brereton was too harsh on the Swans/Longmire game plan, adding all teams review their game plans each year & make necessary adjustments which the Swans were forced to with their injuries & playing their young batch.Comment

I think his time is up - too many teams have gone past us and frankly too many coaches getting the better of Longmire too - our game plan has not evolved enough and we simply have not delivered enough for the quality of list we have had last 5 or 6 years - losing Mitchell and Nankervis has killed us tooComment

It’s no good saying his time is up if you don’t name someone who could do a superior job.... these people that do it successfully are extremely rare.
The diversity of management and people issues they have to handle is massive before they even think about strategies and game plans.Comment

If there is unrest or even “ferment” among the players, including Luke Parker, then something’s wrong and must be dealt with ASAP.Comment

He's referring to the news reports suggesting that Parker is unhappy and wants out as well
Whether there is any truth to player unrest or not is impossible to know without inside info

Thanks caj23. Some on RWO, claim - on the basis of inside info - that there is unrest at the Swans. As do several in the media. But it could well be BSComment

I agree. The club needs to listen to the player's issues and try and rectify them. The swans don't seem like a club that would let things fester.
But if there is an issue amongst the players then why are our younger players signing extensions?Comment

I suspect part of the issue some players might have is other clubs waving large wads of cash in front of their eyes, even already contracted players. The rapid rise in the salary cap over the last couple of seasons has left some clubs with an awful lot of space to fill. The Swans anticipated it and spent most of it before it arrived (on Buddy, but also on signing up our then-gun midfielders on long and fairly lucrative contracts).Comment
