Wow.....for his sake, I hope he doesn't get that long. Silly boy!
It's not hard to see why they're classed as performance enhancing if tested on match day. ASADA only need look at the 2005 and 2006 grand finals for proof of that.

And they took Jobe Watson’s Brownlow off him, yet 2006 belongs to West Coast? Benny keeps his Brownlow?

But I still rue the loss of Teasdale, Mitchell, Rocca, Jolly, Young, Smith, Orchard, Picken (yes, I see the irony of those two), Hawke (and the reverse irony of him), Shane & Paul Morwood, Brereton - ok he wasn’t a loss, but we got him as a “marquee” recruit - and even Gerard Healy - & many others over the years. The difference to me is that, too often in the past, Collingwood pillaged promising or talented players when we were vulnerable.

Teasdales knee was shot, Young had foot spurs, Mitchell and Jolly were losses, Healy didn't get to the starting post and the others were over the hill bar Shane Morwood who was pretty good for them.

True. That analogy makes Jobe's penalty one of the great AFL hypocrisy's......and counting 2016, we've been robbed of two premierships now.

Don’t disagree, but we were often struggling at a time when many of those guys were recruited from us. They may have been past their prime, but they were often good players with us and we had nothing to replace them with. That’s what has always irked me about Collingwood. And Carlton.

And Hawthorn these days - not with us but with other struggling clubs.

Will the Pies do what we did with Michael Talia?
That is 'never to be seen again' and then delisted. Not saying that was the correct or incorrect decision by the way as the circumstances were different.
Probably not as they took Thomas and Keefe back after their bans had been served. They did the crime and then did the time.

Just makes you wonder how many slipped through the net under the 3 strike rule and self reporting.

No match day positive tests, one would think. This is a PED issue, not a recreational drugs issue.

+1 very stupid of him. He now faces a 4 year ban.

I've only skimmed through the rules (the AFL's Anti-Doping Policy and the WADA list of substances) but from what I've read, two years sounds more likely than four if he is found guilty.

Four years is the base sanction if a player is found to have taken a "specified substance" or if they are found to have taken any prohibited substance and the relevant body can establish an intent to gain a performance enhancing benefit. Otherwise the base sanction is two years.

If the drug in question was cocaine, that is listed in the WADA rules as a non-specified substance, meaning he would have had to have taken it with an expectation of getting a performance enhancing benefit. If it comes to that, I presume it would come down to him (and others) establishing when he took it.
