Makes me think when Reid is injured we really should be playing Sinkers as a forward and one of Cameron/Naismith as the ruck. Forget copying the Tigers/Pies, our forward line is so much more functional when we have 2 mobile KPFs (sorry Tom). As good as Franklin is, he is not a crash and bash KPF and our forward line entry is either bombing it in or too slow for this to be an efficient option.Last edited by longmile; 24 October 2018, 02:42 PM.Comment

I see no reason why Reid won't be back in 2019 bigger than ever.
Yes he has a history of weird injuries but I think they will take an ultra conservative approach with him, he is fit now and a good program over the summer should reduce his chance of injury.
Fingers crossed.Comment

I suppose if we really want to add Townsend and Sutcliffe and they are keen join we may offer up our last picks for a higher draft pick ?"be tough, only when it gets tough"

I haven't worked out my own 22, but if I had to include Sinkers at the cost of a place of one of Auntie.G's nominations, it would - sadly - have to be McCartin for mine.Comment

Fair points
For me, minimum, I don’t want the opposite ruck to dominate on the tap downs
I like our ruck to be able to nullify the likes of Gawn or Brody etc and Sammy at 205cm can do this
If the opposition teams can’t get a jump on us because they can not dominate the tap then that is a massive win for our midfield who are generally considered an inside contested midfield
Unfortunately sinkers can’t stop the taller dominate tap ruckman to date
Secondly You would guess that Naismith has the greatest potential to actually start to win more then he looses in the ruck
Lastly Naismith does appear inferior around the ground compared to sinkers"be tough, only when it gets tough"

And, in turn, fair points.
But to my way of thinking, that's where McCartin's place in the team comes under pressure. Sinkers has played forward, and is more recently a ruckman; he has kicked a number of goals for us, so I'd be inclined to start him forward and have him relieve Naismith in the ruck.
One of the commentators - I can't remember which one - was obviously impressed with Sinkers; some time before mid-season I remember him expressing the view that Sinkers was quietly getting closer to the most effective ruckmen. I probably accepted that as wishful thinking rather than current reality, but, that said, he has been competitive, though we perhaps all (?) agree that Naismith is the better tap ruckman, so I'm in agreement with your assessment that a fit Naismith has the greater potential to win more than he loses in the ruck.Comment

Sinkers has a great tank so we could move Sinkers to McCartins role and put Naismith in as main ruck. Reid would be 2nd tall and Sinkers 3rd and relief ruck.
I know others favour Cameron based on NEAFL form.Comment
