        God the Saints are stupid

        1. How much time does he need for rehabilitation? and
        2. There are rumours about after hours activities, this just feeds in to them

AFL 2019: Dan Hannebery out of St Kilda leadership group; Alastair Clarkson ‘move on’

            Here's another link.
I think we won that deal.
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones who let in the light.

Longmire categorically refuted the slight on Dan’s leadership.

“He was our vice-captain last year and has been in our leadership group for a number of years,” Longmire told SEN’s Time On.

“It would’ve been a surprise if he wasn’t in the leadership group from my perspective.”

I know he's a past player from a long time ago, but who will replace Tony Morwood as the Melbourne Office manager?

Since when do injured players get removed from the leadership group to focus on their rehab ? Something doesn’t smell right with this situation , and moving away from rumours that are out there, the fact is, this is completely unheard of and it’s very ,very strange.

I dunno - it checks out from my perspective. In most of the communities I'm involved with, you want to get to know someone before you make them a leader, regardless of the experience or reputation. So Hannebery was always an "interesting" choice to be in the Saints leadership group from my perspective.

Now that he can't get on the field, it's even harder for him - he can't prove his value and he can't provide in-game leadership. It makes a lot of sense for him step down and say "let's wait until I'm able to fully participate in the team".

For his sake, I hope he does get himself right and back to his best. It's sad to think that his career might be cut so very short.

So Tom Scully is IN for the Hawks to play this weekend (admittedly on an extended bench). I think the Hawks did a way, way, way better deal that the one the Saints did.

For the old South supporters & those keen on our history, 1977 Brownlow Medalist Graham Teasdale was interviewed on Kevin Bartlett's SEN show yesterday. He gave insight on how he came to wear that infamous brown crushed velvet suit (with shirt ruffles) on Brownlow night. Story goes he ordered a standard blue suit to rent for the night from his Tailor, but he'd mistakenly rented it out to someone else by the timeTeaser came to pick it up, just few hours before the polling. Teaser was left with the brown velvet suit & thought he wouldn't be noticed, not thinking he would win the medal that night!

But two things I picked up from Teaser's interview that I hadn't known previously:

1/ He had a special clause in his South contract that if the club relocated to Sydney he was free to join another club of his choosing, which ended up being Collingwood but only playing 7 games when his knees finally gave up.

2/ He now follows NRL and is a mad Melb Storm supporter having lived in Orange for 15 years post his footy career. He doesn't care/watch much AFL these days, particulaly how it's played with so much uncontested footy.

Edit: Barlett who came 2nd in the Brownlow that year, joking said Barry Goodingham's broken hand cost him the Brownlow as his injury resulted Teaser being moved from Full Forward to the Ruck, which he starred in for the remainder of the season. I do recall though Teaser kicking 17 goals from the first 2 games of that season at full forward, which he surely would've polled votes for. Teaser polled 59 votes that year, which remains technically a record as the system then was both field umpires registered their votes.

Remember his performance when we beat Collingwood at Victoria Park in 1977. Took over 20 marks around the ground. Could kick it out of sight as well.

It was the very first Swans game I ever saw live, it was from the seats we'd been given in the Collingwood members stand - and I got my vocabulary seriously expanded by the horrendous Collingwood grannies around me.

I was there in the outer surrounded by Black and White. Kept my head down but was ecstatic inside. Your experience sounds very educational!
