It appears to have been a pretty successful season for ex-Swans. And that's before an ex-Swans ruckman lands up with an AFL premiership medal around his neck on Saturday afternoon (which is guaranteed, save for any late team changes).

Continuing on the team of the years theme, Sam Fisher made the VFL team of the year on a half forward flank, and Jordan Lockyer made the WAFL team of the year at fullback,

              Half-forward: SAM FISHER (Northern Blues)
181cm 21-year-old / second VFL season / averaged 24 disposals at 72 per cent efficiency, 13 contested possessions, eight clearances and 4.5 inside-50s in 18 home-and-away games / first Team of the Year selection

That's not Abe Davis on the half forward flank is it?

Probably is. He finished top 5 in the Magarey Medal (Have I correctly remembered / spelt the name of the SANFL medal?)

I heard Tom Morris OTC last night throw up Matthew Nicks name as a possible candidate for the Adelaide coaching job (currently a coaching assistant with Adelaide).

It was a big surprise and a disappointment when he was cut.

Sam Fisher, Abe Davis and Tony Olango should be our draft targets this year. Who needs Papley, Jones and Cameron?

Nicks is a senior assistant coach at GWS this year. He was at Port for eight years, 2011 to 2018.

Maybe he was thinking of Marty Mattner, who is an assistant coach at the Crows?

Yes, likely he was. But re Nicks, you can see him stepping up to a senior coach position at some stage. He's been in the system
for awhile now at a high level. He was senior asst at Port for his last two years there before moving to the Giants. Good luck
                                to him.
