Past players - what are they up to?

Monty still had to get his kick away extremely quickly.
Which he did, and when he realised he'd kicked it, the huge toothless grin on his face as he sprinted around in excitement was such a delight to see.
Happy memories.Last edited by Ruck'n'Roll; 14 September 2022, 06:07 PM.Comment

Robbed of the Norm Smith. Most influential player on the ground by a street. Judd had a lot of clearances and 29 possessions. He had ONE effective kick."I'll acknowledge there are more talented teams in the competition but I won't acknowledge that there is a better team in the competition" Paul Roos March 2005Comment

Amon was absolutely huge for us in 2005! A major influence in that momentous year!Comment

https://youtu.be/fY6LhFyOCnc?t=65 low quality footage but you can see it.I can’t find the interview but so was the final goal to Buchanan in the grand final. If you watch closely Drew Banfield backs off going at Amon because he’s too preoccupied with Davis, assuming the Swans had the same plan, then instantly throws his head back after realising he got distracted and sucked in by the switch."Fortunately, this is the internet, so knowing nothing is no obstacle to having an opinion!." Like Jordan kicking it over to Paxson.https://youtu.be/fY6LhFyOCnc?t=65 low quality footage but you can see it.
Yes- I primarily made that comparison so I could liken Davo to Jordan.I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his timeComment

I just threw up in my mouth.Comment

It might look wrong, but it's just a coaching job and good luck to him.
I suppose North Melbourne think Longmire should have been coaching them and not the Swans.Comment

Just commenting on the look of Tadhg in their polo, not about whether he should be coaching them or not. There's more than enough ex-Swans Buchanan, Schneider, Saddington, Doyle, Perris who have coached or are still coaching there for it to become rather normal now.Comment

Not only normal but to be expected. It's as hard for the Sydney teams to acquire coaching staff as it is for them to persuade players to relocate. So the pool of players who have laid down roots in NSW as a result of being drafted to Sydney (the city, not the club) is an obvious source of coaching staff and much larger than native Sydneysiders who've played elsewhere but now come home (like Mark McVeigh). The Giants haven't been around long enough to create such a pool of naturalised Sydneysiders so it's logical that ex-Swans form the bulk of that pool.
On Kennelly, he was with the Swans and was cut by us (as a result of COVID). So it's very hard to begrudge him his new role.Comment

Little bit of vomit in my mouth to see him in those colours.
But what an achievement for him - to reach a point where as an international player coming to the game late on and becoming a champion of the game, to now becoming head of a talent academy at an AFL club."You get the feeling that like Monty Python's Black Knight, the Swans would regard amputation as merely a flesh wound."Comment

I'll always love Tadhg. Good on him and, dare I say it, good on GWS.'Delicious' is a fun word to sayComment
