Decided to post here as I had trouble locating the old Buddy thread.....

Interesting listening to Liam Pickering last night on the Agenda Setter in recalling the Buddy trade we're all familiar with.

What stood out to me however, was Buddy's shock when we landed Tippet the year before as that was the first indication to Pickering he wanted to come to us.

Plus the insights to the level of verbal abuse Colless & Ireland copped from both Demitrou & Fitzpatrick (AFL), that their man didn't land at GWS.

Glad Pickers emphasised just how terrible and unjust the ensuing penalties we copped from the AFL, which included losing COLA and 2 year trade ban when we didn't break any rules.

The panel ended up concluding the Buddy trade is the greatest, considering he played for extra year in addition to the initial 9 year deal, which even Buddy himself had expressed doubts he'd last that long!

I see St Kilda have delisted Zak Jones. He did have some injury woes but it has to be said, he never really set things alight down at the Saints.

Good luck to him in the footy afterlife.

Not surprised Zak has been delisted. Unfortunately i think he'll have trouble finding a home elsewhere among the long list of delisted veterans. Played 90 games with us and 74 with the Saints. His best footy was with us imo. The Zak Attack as Gerard Healy used to phrase him.

Now Tom Mitchell has been let go by Collingwood (along with Mason Cox, not a former Swan of course). Injuries certainly cruelled Tom's later career.

Can't say I have any great sympathy. He's another one who said one thing and then did another.

Talk about 'sleeping with the enemy'! Alex Johnson is the new Western Bulldogs VFL coach. Can't say I'm happy about that but I wish him well.

He looks unnatural in that Dogs shirt.

I read an article on my phone at work yesterday that he had joined the Essendon board. Glad to see it has only been an approach so far.

I hope he doesn't but then I can't really do that with good grace seeing that Geelong's Tom Harley and Freo's Matthew Pavlich have given loyalty to our club.

But I still hope he doesn't LOL.

The AGE reported Ted Richards had been approached by EFC and is weighing up his options. I've now notice a Reddit article published on the same day (5th Nov) stating that he has joined the EFC board which is expected to be formalised by the end of the week.

                        Take your pick!

Wish we had found a position for him in our administration

Ollie Florent & Will Hayward have been allocated guernsey numbers 14 and 19 respectively at Carlton. Still getting used to them being no longer a Swan.

I’m with you- it feels very strange! Clubs and players both do what they think is in their best interest and this happens in most sports these days. It seems a bit weird that a player is singing a “foreign” team song after joining another club, having been with his previous club for years. But nowadays many players have mates in opposing clubs, as witnessed by their friendly chats after a game- during the match they are fierce rivals but once the final whistle is blown, they often hug, and I must confess I like that!
