Now that I've researched it a bit more, Tom Bell is now playing in a local league, for a club called, Greensborough. So I doubt if we're looking at him.
While Cody Hirst is nineteen years old and playing for the Eastern Ranges; as an older age player, after being injured in his draft year. Apparently, without the injury he would have been drafted. However, he's an outside mid/forward flanker type, and I tend to think that we already have enough of them.Comment

This article says Kyle Dunkley is the likely number 1 pick in the mid-season draft. And I've heard it said Carlton will take him with the first pick.
Star Dog's brother tipped as No.1 pick in mid-season draft - AFL.com.au
I found interesting the attempt to compare him to an end-of-season draft pick - as in where would the #1 pick in the mid-season draft go in the national draft?
"so steep is Dunkley's improvement since being overlooked, including as a father-son option for Sydney, that one leading recruiter rates him the equivalent of a top-30 National Draft selection... Others consider him closer to a third-round pick, which would have placed him somewhere between 44 and 55 in last year's draft."Comment

Interesting that we seem to have interviewed a number of different prospects and have been linked by media to Dunkley, Hirst and De Luca among others.
Looks like Dunkley won't be available, Hirst is a wing forward who was overlooked last year due to injuries but still managed to break Stephen Hill's agility test record, cant remember much about De Luca, but I think our female fans would be pretty happy with himComment

Though I was interested to see that former academy member, Ryan Hebron, is being talked about as someone who will be drafted. Not sure if the Swans are interested, as defensive cover is probably not a priority? But it would nice if another academy product made it to the AFL; mainly to reinforce the message, that even if you're not picked up in your draft year, there's still a chance of being picked up later.Comment

Gary Buckenara describes Cody H as:
“Given a chance as an over-age player at the Ranges, Hirst has great speed and has been able to use that to influence games from the wing this season. He was talked about as a possible rookie pick last year but missed out. He’s still developing and probably isn’t ready to play at AFL level yet, but a club that rates him highly could lock him away early to start developing him in their system rather than waiting until the national draft.”

He hasn’t included Kyle Dunkley in his list. Not sure why. His top 5 across all positions are:
1. Corey Gault
2. Sam Lowson
3. Nathan Mullenger-McHugh
4. Marlion Pickett
5. Campbell HustwaiteComment

Project manager shapes as Mid-Season Draft bolter - AFL.com.au
Also, this from AFL.com.au - Page Not Found
What do they need? The Swans are going through a rebuild and have a few different positions they could look to fill, including down back and through the middle. A younger contested ball-winner might be on the menu, or maybe they go on the hunt for more speed.
Who's available? Kyle Dunkley is unlikely to still be on the board. Midfielder Josh Deluca spent four years on Fremantle's list, was best afield in last year's WAFL Grand Final and won the medal as the state league's best player against the SANFL a week-and-a-half ago. Dandenong Stingrays onballer Mitch Riordan and Eastern Ranges winger Cody Hirst may also appeal.
Do they have a pick? Yes, Kurt Tippett's official retirement has given the Swans the flexibility to add a player to their list and their pick is likely to be in the top five.
The whisper: Unless the Blues get in first, Deluca's AFL lifeline seems likely to be at Sydney, one of five clubs to speak to him. - MM

Sounds like he's improving and worth a look.....but then the club may decide he doesn't fit our 'no dickheads' policy, due to the former mentioned article. However, they have talked to him already.Comment

My understanding is that Kyle is essentially an inside mid who can also play half-fwd as he did in his game for Footscray and that his performances as an inside mid is what has attracted the attention of scouts. Someone else might be able to confirm this?Comment

Apparently the difference is that Buddy was a free agent whilst Boyd was a traded player.
What I would love to know is;
* Have any free agents retired prematurely previously and if so, how were their retirements treated?
* Does this rule apply to any other current players other than Buddy?
* Was this a rule that was only introduced when we recruited Buddy?Comment
