As a small forward with limited ability elsewhere, he really needs to be good for a few goals and half a dozen tackles most matches, which he hadn't been doing of late.
I agree re Ronkes form, however most of those you mentioned don’t play as small forwards necessarily , Heeney , Parker and JPK play medium -tall if anything. McVeigh more of a slow flanker. None of those offer the pace or pressure we need to support a 3 pronged tall forward line . So hopefully Ronke gets back in sooner rather than later.

I take your point. Who was performing the role prior to Ronke? Could we potentially look at one of our young recruits such as McInerney or Stoddart filling this role?

If the backline lines up as listed..... Mills Grundy Melican, McVeigh ,Rampe, Lloyd ....Not one quick player among them....

It worries me, such a slow, tall team we've picked.

The Dogs will try to exploit this with run and carry and lots of pressure.

If our midfield get the ball at the centre clearance and kick it fast into forward line 6 vs 6 we will very very very hard to beat

              Massive advantage our forward line

Great challenge for our midfield to dominate

That could be correct ugg. Although our big forwards are not really slow. Papley will be busy. O'Riordan the unluckiest I feel.

                    Lloyd is hardly slow surely?

Sorry missed him , not quick but zippy I guess.

I don't think Lloyd is especially quick. Whether that qualifies him as slow depends on how many classifications you use. He certainly doesn't have a burst of acceleration to help him burst through traffic or weave into space.

As people have mentioned above, I'm surprised that we have gone so tall. Up front, it seems that Buddy, Reid, Sinclair and Blakey, could be one tall marking target too many. And while it's nice to see Buddy in the squad, I wonder if he's something of a provisional selection. That is, he doesn't quite get up, then Ronke comes in and adds a bit more crumbing skills. If he does play, then maybe Blakey has to wait a little bit longer for his debut; despite his impressive preseason form.
Also surprised that Melican is in the backline, as I think that O'Riordan has had better recent form and provides more escape velocity. Possibly another late change?

Melican is the only selection I'm really stumped with. The Dogs dont have a tall backline so it's not like he's needed. He's down on form and is not that quick either. I think he's a great player but he needs to regain form in the Reserves.

I love the tall team, about time!

                              We will flog the Dogs.

"Zippy" is not a term I'd associate with Lloyd, or Rampe for that matter.

Rampe has elite endurance. Neither has explosive pace.

We've gone in to this match with Grundy, Melican, Rampe, and potentially Aliir, as tall options in defence..

Against a relatively small Dogs forward line.

The only way this situation works for us is if the Dogs just bomb it into their forwards all night...Highly unlikely.
