Reminds me of all those icons of rugby league down at the Melbourne Storm. What, none of them noticed
tens of thousands of dollars magically appearing in their bank accounts for no reason whatsoever....
Careful with the Storm KT, you'll end up sounding like an uninformed Melbournian talking about the Swans......maybe not all you've heard about the Storm from league heartland NSW media is accurate? Maybe the Storm feel like the Swans.....after all, a few Sydney based league teams have rorted the salary cap since and at least one has not had their premiership taken away or maybe even points.

That is a fair point Stevo. There is probably no reason to believe the Sydney RL media is a lot different from the Melbourne AFL media.

Keeping the Giants warm through the whole years seems to be what got everyones knickers in a knot.
Hawthorn because they thought they could extract a few young guns or good draft picks in a trade with GWS, rather than a compo pick.
And the AFL because they thought their young club would get a high profile player.

None of which is Sydney's fault, or worthy of the petulant retribution from the AFL (ie trade ban)

Two parts down, still waiting to read anything new. Don’t understand the point of these articles.

Now if part 3 demolishes the ‘Swans cheated with COLA to get Buddy’ story, then there will have been a very valid point ......

Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.

GWS and Buddy dodged a bullet I think. If you compare the way GC turned out by getting the best player in the AFL (Ablett), to the GWS with draft pick growth.
Its a very hard gig being a marque player for a new club. I think everyone underestimated how hard it is to establish a club. Even many years on, both havent really got their off-field conditioning and medical capabilities up to the gold standard of other clubs.

There could well not be anything new whatsoever. Makes me wonder why a 3 part piece on the intricacies of Buddy's recruitment being done at this time?

Which one should be penalised ?
But they didn't see Karma coming. Richmond that is.

                      The Swans.

A star player going from a Victorian club to a NSW club has to be penalised to discourage this kind of recruiting in the future.

I found it intriguing in Part 1 after we'd picked up Tippett in the 2012 draft, Buddy immediately texted his manager (Liam Pickering) on why we did that. This to me showed Buddy had his heart set on us from the very beginning as well as Jesinta! It also begs the question had we got Buddy first would the club still have pursued Tippett? Buddy's text message caught Pickering by surprise who thought Buddy had no interest whatsoever leaving Hawthorn.

It also further highlighted to me just how much a legendary operator Andrew Ireland was for us, to have the instinct to make an enquiry with Pickering after detecting Buddy was making visits to Jesinta in Sydney. This would've been at least 12 months before GWS leant Buddy might be get able, which harpoons any notion that we'd stolen Buddy from them!

I don't know about the legendary operator bit, but Ireland was just doing what any business person would do if they saw a big
fish swimming around just outside their patch. Probably the GWS guy, who is no slouch himself, noticed that too. In the end, it
worked out pretty well. We need Buddy more than GWS do. They have Jeremy Cameron, who is a similar type of player, and is
also going to end up kicking a considerable number of goals.

You're going to be disappointed, but you already knew that!

Don't understand the GWS & AFL's accusations that we "stole" Buddy. They IMPLIED Buddy had agreed to and even signed with GWS, but failed to produce any verification or proof of that! Buddy clearly had his heart set on us from the outset & DEMANDED that kept secret from everyone on the outside till the end. Worked out better for GWS which they've admitted, as the fallout from our Buddy deal resulted them netting Mumford & Heath Shaw.
