    Beautiful.
    I'll take one now thanks.
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones who let in the light.

I'm not. One atrocious year is worth it if we pick up the best gun midfielder in the draft. Finishing near the top of the ladder for a long period of time has been our downfall.

Our season has been harmed by injuries to some extent. Any side losing seven or so of their best 22 is going to struggle.

Speaking of 22, I am getting sick of 22-point losses. We've had three in the past month.

The idea that every side has to have a bad season at the bottom sooner or later is a furphy. Geelong last finished in the bottom 25% of the ladder in 1975 (11th out of 12 with 7 wins) though Geelong had mediocre seasons in 1998, 2001 and 2003, finishing 12th in each. (source: afltables.com)

I'm guessing we'll win 4 to 7 games, with a couple of those wins considered "upsets". Most likely wins to come: North Melbourne, Gold Coast, Carlton. We should win a couple of the other games, but I don't see us winning many as long as we can't get the cattle on the park.

The good news: we should pick up a gun midfielder with pick 2. The bad news: we traded away our round 2 pick to the Eagles.

But we traded in St Kilda's second rounder and they'll be lower than us at the end of the year.

That’s a big call . They are 3 wins ahead of us currently , and have played much better football than us.

If North beat Carlton today, we'll be on the bottom and in prime position to snare the prize that no one wants.....

                        The number 1 draft pick?

Mere contemplation of that seems absurd. Our squad is much better than that.

West Coast's squad wasn't awful when they collected the spoon in 2010 four years after winning a premiership.

North pumping Carlton. Simultaneously exciting to be officially headed for spoon and first pick and a cautionary tale that number 1 draft pick doesn't solve deeper issues.
He had observed that people who did lie were, on the whole, more resourceful and ambitious and successful than people who did not lie.

Yeah, but we're playing all the teams above us!

I'm not sure what your point is, but mine is that the wooden spoon would be significant underachievement given the squad.
