The rub of the Green once again didn't go our way. 27 free kicks to 17. BRISBANE 7 goals from free kicks to one. I know spineless Longmire won' t say anything because he does not care if we win or lose. But twice I saw Jones get knocked to the head by a charging Brisbane player, of course no free, but it's so corrupt it's starting to put the health of players in danger as there is no deterrent to stop that type of action. Longmire it's time to stick up for the health of your players!

      Ended up 77-40. Hit-outs 64-37. Contested possessions 184-142. Clearances 53-42.

Lions led and were better most of the day. No need to invoke umpiring conspiracy theories.

I saw glimpses of the old Swans in that Q2 fight-back, so grounds for optimism. Just need to keep working at it. Need to persist with these youngsters and accept it isn't going to be a great-looking year, most games.

        Well

Looking for progress rather then results ain’t much fun lol

Ps Has mills finally strung enough sub par games together in the backline this season that he can not be picked in his position anymore ?

Mills was far from the worst player today. He made one terrible error that cost a goal but he wasn't alone there! The issue I have is that he has been played out of position his entire career and it appears like it's not going to change any time soon as horse seems oblivious or too stubborn to make a change...

FFS he had a 40 possession game as a 16 or 17 year old in the NEAFL against AFL opposition (Gold Coast). He is a natural midfielder, at least give him a chance to see if he is a bust or not!!!

Yeah… nah, coaches going off about umpires never goes well.

I wonder how long Mills gets played out of position before he gets a suitable off elsewhere and gets all Australian or a brownlow
coach is a joke, his milestone says alot about our current standing

Thought that Hewett was really good, along with Kennedy in the middle. Aliir was very classy, while Rampe was his usual wholehearted self. Papley obviously gave us plenty of spark. Our forward line actually looked quite dangerous, when we got it there. Though watching live, it was frustrating watching us, either not notice or miss, forwards that had got into plenty of space. Umpiring, more frustrating.

Any news on Cunningham? It did look to be a serious groin injury.

He has great composure which is something that many of our mids lack!

Was at the game today. Hewitt was huge all day for us. Worked his backside off, blanketed his opponent and won plenty of the ball himself.

Kennedy just keeps on giving, absolute champ.

Thurlow is starting to settle in nicely as well imo

However Heeney looked completely off. While I didn't think Mills was as bad as people said he was, there are also serious concerns over him too. Reid and Jack were absolutely useless again and I think our forward line is too tall. I'd be very tempted to drop both Reid and Blakey for Franklin and bring in another small (but not Ronke lol)

Fox anonymous, playing out of position maybe?

Shame about Cunningham, he was putting together a bunch of great games. COR surely gets a go now

In the end it was a strange game. Got dominated but had some amazing passages that give me hope for some upsets later this year. Knowing we can actually score quickly and heavily is exciting and reassuring
Considering the amount of inside 50s against us, backline did a fair job. Melican played better and kept Hipwood quiet. Allir is a master at getting his hand in for a spoil and Rampe is a total gun and kept pace with Cameron and that is saying something.

After watching the game live tonight, I don't see anything special in Mills. In fact, his lack of pace coupled with his lack of poise, leads me to think he would be a wrong fit for the midfield. Would just give him more opportunity to turn it over. Imagine him and Jones in there together? My TV and dog would be in serious danger!

well dumb arse put your best players in there
For the second week in a row our best centre clearance player was Sinkers. When the ball hits the ground where are our mids. We had 14 centre clearances, I reckon Sinkers had 7. Just garbage. Our players set up behind their opponents and don't go for the footy. Occasionaly we get lucky and the ball falls our way.I think Heeney had the only open and clear centre clearance. The rest were scrappy around the corner kicks.

Im more inclined to blame coaching
If someone as pathetic as Clarke can get it 47 times in the 2s yet look like he has never played footy in the 1s im more blaming what the coach wants or doesnt want or his instructions
Rohan walking on eggshells is starting to make sense

Would be good to enter a game with Heeney Mills Jones and Hewett all chasing their own ball, make the opposition worry about us instead of always taking a defensive approach, might even change the whole teams attitude
