Rightfully, the players are getting plaudits but I'm going to throw in Horse for a great coaching display tonight. Structures were spot on for most of tonight. I was gaining confidence in the teams ability the further the game progressed.....they were on. Well done Horse.

Its great to see John finally changing the game plan, there seems to be more of a willingness to take the game on which is a much needed change. Skills still let us down sometimes but i would rather see the team have a crack and lose then play boring defensive football.
John's move to the interchange bench is doing wonders, perhaps the need to keep his emotions in check is finally letting the players take the game on without fear.
if we see those new spots on the leopard he may be the right option for the future still. The jury is still out though.
The next big task will be to re-integrate Buddy without losing our forward structure which has become more potent due to its unpredictability. I think its time to play Buddy as a high half-forward whose focus is delivery of the ball into the forward 50. I fear that if we simply play him forward again we will revert to the one-dimensional game that clearing isnt going to work anymore.Comment

Can Hewett please never have to tag again? This is what we saw years ago in the neafl, now with the new make-up of the midfield I believe he will be it’s future leader ala Kennedy.
The effort was amazing tonight and always a pleasure to beat norf, the way they niggle and scrag makes the win better.Comment

Almost snatched defeat from the jaws of victory there, but deserved winners tonight.
Enjoyed Dawson's cheeky trick to get the holding the arm free. And again, the rest of his game too. Good to see the old Hewett back.
We may not be having the best season, but at least we'll never be the continually-underachieving embarrassment that is NorthComment

Longmire said before the game it was a quad injury. Reading between the lines they didn't want to risk him this week so hopefully he will be ok next week. But who knows!
It's the other way around. When the swans lose the liberals win. So I was very worried at the end because the liberals are going to win.
Swans won in 2010, Liberals lost.
Swans lost in 2013 and 2016, Liberals won both electionsComment

on my phone checking Swans results from previous election nights. Then there is the chicken
or egg thing? does the election result determine the result of our game, or vice versa. It's
totally exhausting.Comment

Yeah, it's a dilemma. I caused a bit of a ruckus in the polling booth I went to as I had to spend so much

I'll watch a replay during the week, and I know it's only LOLNorf but a few quick observations -
Blakey's stats probably weren't big but he does some exciting stuff, a bloke his size to have that skill set, pace, athleticism and a great footy brain is mouth watering. Does he end up a wingman or is he our future CHF?
McCartin has some of the stickiest hands in the AFL, draft steal!
Dawson, we knew he could play and is now starting to produce it consistently at senior level, inside mid, wing, CHB, CHF, could do any of them in probability, shows real footy smarts and love the left boot.
Hewitt I mentioned last night, nick off the stopper roles, just let him play as a mid, the guy can play.
Rowbottom, I didn't see much in his earlier games and last night he looked a long way off. I know he's not a small forward but back to the NEAFL.
Overall an exciting game and a glimpse of the future, just need the some of the other kids to continue on a upward curve and the future looks really bright. Rowell would have been a nice addition but he looks Crows (courtesy Blues) or LOLNorf bound after round 9, was nice to dream for a while :-)Comment

I’ll add a couple more mentions:
Oli Florent - had his best game for the season. I was a bit critical a few weeks ago with his development but he did some really nice things last night.
Ryan Clarke - 96% game time. That is immense. If he can play a role negating someone like Higgins then he won’t be the trade clanger after all.
Injuries - The losses of JPK and Jones is huge. JPK didn’t fly down so he was no “late out”. Any muscle strain should mean at least 2 weeks so I would think he is highly doubtful for Collingwood. With Jones also missing now next week, it is now or never for Mills to play mids.Comment

It was great to get another win, but I was essentially waiting for us to lose in the last quarter. The tide had well and truly turned in the third quarter, but we were still scoring while they weren't. That predictably changed in the last.
Losing Jones was, and will be, a massive loss. We are going to need others to start providing plenty of run and carry now without Cunningham and Jones in the side. Parker will be another massive loss if he goes (particularly if Kennedy does not return)
We were definitely on the right side of the officiating last night. I was calling out more missed North frees than ours - but the last one for Goldstein does not bother me much (someone infringes in nearly every ruck contest), but I suppose we are lucky the jumper hold was missed.
I like Blakey's aggression at the contest, but he might be well advised to cut out the smart arse behaviour to the opposition - it does not do him, or us, any favours.Comment

Was wondering if anyone who was at the game can answer this.
Have watched the game highlights on the AFL website a few times. (GO CYGNETS!) Just after the siren, most Swans players in shot raised their arms in celebration. (GO CYGNETS!) In the background, you can see Norf supporters vehemently yelling at and abusing someone. (They're good at that!) When I first watched the highlights, I presumed their vitriol was aimed at the umpires but when I watched the highlights again, I noticed that when the siren went and most Swans raised their arms, Dane Rampe ran back towards the goal. Now, he may well have gone back to celebrate with another Swan player but, considering that Norf supporters behind the goal were "giving it" to someone, I wonder if Dane had gone back towards them to "say hello." He's a bit cheeky like that. (GO CYGNETS!)Comment
