Giants have dialled up their customary thuggery and have rightly given away a number of free kicks. Anyone comparing this to the ongoing mystifying bias against the Swans that's borne out by the statistics is jumping at shadows. Giants are a dirty bunch but unfortunately also pretty good when they get the upper hand, like today. No conspiracies to see here.

Listen to the ABC broadcast. The commentators were anything but silent. Forget about the TV commentators. They're amateurs who are completely compromised by their closeness to the AFL, the clubs, the players, and in the Foxtel case, the Murdochs. Listen to the independent professionals.

Finals week one
I couldn’t seem to find a thread for finals yet, forgive me if I have missed it.
Just wanted to post how stoked I am that the dirty doggies got smashed up big time by the giants. Oh the joy . As much as the umps tried to help them get back in the game in the second , they got what they deserved . Suffer ya mongrels!
Also pretty happy the cats got knocked off and hope they go out in straight sets. Had a new guy start at my work this week who supports the cats and my lord the arrogance ! + they are coached by a Scott.

I think the bye really helped the Giants. Getting AA (or very close to it) level players like Greene, Haynes & Williams back
was a huge boost. The polar opposite to the H & A game with the Dogs barely raising a yelp after half time. Interesting
crowd, just over 19,000 there (I'd say 12,000 GWS, 7,000 Dogs judging by the colours). Though the Dogs fans were just
as loud when they had something to cheer about, which wasn't often.
Very even contribution by GWS. If they all turn up like they did today, they will be a handful for whoever they play next week.Comment

Great standard of football at the Gabba. Lions starting to dominate, after being a bit shaky early. Even though they're 10-5 in front, in the free kick count, you could argue that they've had the worst of the umpiring. The holding the ball against Rich was a shocker. The reversal against Hipwood was even worse. It even seemed that Grimes was going down, fractionally before Hipwood made a small amount of contact.Comment

If Brisbane had kicked goals instead of HALF of their behinds, they'd have won.
A bit too much more pressure than the youngsters are used to.He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)Comment
