I watched the last scratch match. Blakey showed the full range from amazing to fumbly and crap. Especially in heavy traffic he seems to be nervous about the bodies around him and is very fumbly. When he was able to get clear he was very good with a penetrating left foot. Contested marking which should be his forte was also poor. I think he has previously relied on being bigger than his opponents. At AFL level he doesn’t have this advantage and is struggling a bit.

Would love Blakey to be a late out for McLean, but it seems that Blakey has the match committee on his side

My sense is that the selectors believe that if Blakey could get a few things gi his way his confidence would soar and he would turn it all around.

After that excellent mark early in his last game, I felt if he'd nailed that easy set shot, he would have been up and going... but he didn't.
They figured out a way to turn Hayward's form and confidence around, including a change of position. Lets see if they can "fix" Blakey?

We're operating from different perspectives, I don't see Sinclair and Knoll as either/or. I still believe we should be playing two ruck capable players - it might be a hangover form our last two flag teams, but I can dream.

Still not sold on COR, hope he proves me wrong.

You look at players and wonder if we would regret losing them, i couldnt see COR getting a game anywhere else

All the others, in and out of the side for their inconsistency, you could easily say they would be picked up and be valauable....... but i did think that about Jed Lamb too

One thing i have noticed as well is he is susceptible to a sledge and a push and is showing the opposition his temper. Is playing cranky which cant be good for his concentration. Only young of course but certainly knows all about the second year syndrome.

From what he’s been saying, I think he has the virus!

BTW Tom Harley said on SEN that Will Gould had a good game in the practice game last week.

Once a player leaves the Swans, it becomes an article of faith that we won't miss them - regardless of how they go elsewhere.

COR may well be a victim of our tendency to play people out of position.

Granted i dont watch much NEAFL but i can only assume he hasnt averaged 30 touches a game for the last 2 yrs playing in the back pocket

Good point, and when he first made it into the 1st's he was playing in more freewheeling manner.

Needs a stern but compassionate word or two from Kirky.....

That's generally my view. Solid, but with a pretty low ceiling. Happy to be proven wrong. Reckon he has more dash in him to unleash, but not sure about decision making/poise.

I hope the favouritism that Blakey seems to be afforded doesn’t put any noses out of joint. Must be frustrating to some other guys who don’t get afforded the same level of leniency on performance, or the lower standard required to win back their spot.
Whether it’s anything to do with his Dad being there who knows, most likely not, but it would be human nature for some to assume that is a factor.
