So it seems!!! Certainly not lacking in determination either!
I used to be indecisive, but now I'm not so sure..................

Good that our senior players showed some strong leadership. Would be interesting to know who they were!

Can I just point out that his GF did spent 14 days in isolation before this escapade... which does show a level of responsibility. Unless I've misunderstood, there was zero danger of her bringing Covid into the hub, only a danger of her taking it out.

If they'd wanted to be truly irresponsible they'd have got together earlier, but they didn't (as far as we know!)

The point is they should not of done it at all !! They still broke the very specific WA hub rules. Why keep making excuses for them?

Lots of people have broken hub rules. Dozens in fact, but only one has been banned for the rest of the season and had his character and future at his club questioned. And its the youngest of the lot. I was also trying to make the point that his breach looked worse than it was, as the person ET had contacted with could not possibly have infected anyone inside the hub. Other breaches, including the Buckley one did carry that risk I believe.

The others broke AFL rules. Elijah committed an offense against WA quarantine, and broke the promises made by the AFL that players would behave. That is the difference.

There is clearly a difference in intent.

Buckley made an innocent, albeit stupid, mistake. ET went to extreme lengths to deliberately break the rules.

On top of that, he broke the law, Buckely did not.

You are painting Buckley in a very favourable light. He knew very well the rules, so it was neither a mistake or innocent. Stupid, yes.

The key difference is Buckley has a high profile, .... and is white (There, Ive said it).

Buckley played tennis with Alicia Molik who lives in WA. There is no Covid floating around in the WA community so there was no risk of her infecting Buckley (nor VV as Buckley had passed the quarantine period).

As has been explained several times, Buckley broke the AFL rules about contact outside the hub. Taylor broke WA quarantine law - as well as the AFL rules.

My key point was that ET acted in a way that, despite breaking both AFL and WA rules, did not risk anyone becoming infected with Covid. That's not the case with some of the others, that have been dealt with more leniently.

You could make a strong argument that the risk of ET or his girlfriend spreading the virus was also very low, given she'd completed quarantine, and he'd been living in an AFL bubble, the last couple of weeks in Queensland where there is low (to no) community transmission.

That's not really the point, though, as you and others have pointed out. He breached WA state laws, theoretically putting the continuation of the AFL season at risk (though with low real probability). The fact it was such a deliberate flouting of rules that had been spelled out to him makes it especially poor behaviour.

I thought Buckley got off somewhat lightly for his transgression, albeit it wasn't on the same scale.

From the perspective of the WA Government ET risked infecting a person with Covid who is now living in the WA community. He broke the law as well as AFL rules.

As Liz goes on to say, that’s not the point. There are many laws we might feel shouldn’t (or don’t need to) apply to us but that doesn’t give us discretion to break them.

                                Yeah no.
                                Suspension totally deserved.
It was organised, well in advance.
                                See ya next year, maybe.
