Wet games need players with clean hands.

Dylan Stephens has a seriously clean pair of hands. His game tonight, and some of the patches from earlier in the year, tell us he is going to be a beauty.

I think Swans midfield won the battle. Inside 50s pretty close. Their forward line much better than ours.

And Papley kicking around the corner. Game was gone, just go back and kick it. A number of players in the last few weeks all over the comp have missed these rushed sideways kicks at goal.

Really impressed by his work tonight. I think he will be a bit of a slow burn, but I like what we are seeing.

An enjoyable game, even if I was disappointed it got away at the end. We played some decent footy, and with a decent tall forward target in the first half, could of really made it interesting. Certainly some good signs with this team going forward I think - certainly not the downcast 'no improvement' dribble run out by that fool Barrett on the AFL website. When they showed the players that could come back in for Rd 1 2021 (in theory anyway) it showed we are doing not bad to be highly competitive against one of the teams who are right in flag contention.

I think Paps will really appreciate having Buddy and Heeney around him in the forward line

I thought we matched them in the midfield and our defence was competitive as always. What is clear though is that we lack defensive pressure in our forward 50 and give up territory down the line too easily. Conversely, we struggle to clear it out of our defence effectively, with the ball often just zinging back from half forward.

Blakey had a good game tonight. He's clearly a midfielder, has many tricks up his sleeve.

Probably not too many AFL forwards kicking goals who don’t have shall we say and over abundance of confidence

Not a fan of Hipwood - seems a bit full of himself.

Liking the look of Stephens - the kid has some real class about him. Going to be a slow burner I think that takes some time to build up into it, but there is a lot to like.
Yes, I liked Stephens tonight. He should be a star in a couple of years time. Looks classy almost every time he gets it. McInerney is also a classy ball user. He's been the big surprise for me of late. Had him as a possible delist at the start of the year. Now I have him as a definite keeper.

Agree. Also, even with depleted team we fielded tonight, if we could get our share of clean centre breaks, we would win 2-3 more games per season.

Both of them should be classy and skilful players for many years, physiques permitting.

IMO he gets a pass for what he has done over the last decade. Yes it doesn’t help us now but still a much loved leader that deserves the opportunity to go out on his terms. If those terms include another year I for one won’t have an issue with that. He still provides protection and direction when needed. Not that there is such a thing in the Swans but almost a protected species :-)

Was Reid injured in last quarter? AFL.com says Melican too

The good: Parker, Stephens, Clarke (as a tagger), Hayward, Mills

The bad (and I mean bad): Reid, Bell
