Why Tom Papley chose to stay at Sydney
We are very lucky to have Longmire as coach. Outstanding individual with great character.

Irrespective of what people think of Horse's tactical abilities as a coach, there is no doubt he is a gentleman off the park, and highly regarded by many in the industry. Just another example in a long list of how highly regarded he is by many in our game.
"You get the feeling that like Monty Python's Black Knight, the Swans would regard amputation as merely a flesh wound."

My thoughts exactly.....and that Paps article just strengthens that view.

Talk of him "going anywhere" was just that. Talk.
He's contracted until the end of 2023.
The blues can have him then.
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.

Carlton's culture since the 70's has been to steal players from other clubs, cheque book recruiting and rort the salary cap to win flags. Since they have had to fall into line they have failed miserably. And true to form they still had a go at Papley. Why would anybody want to transfer to such a soulless club, apart from the filthy lucre.

It would be hard to find a more precise and succinct definition of the Carlton Football Club. The word "soulless," in particular, defines the club.

Why would Papley, who thrives on playing with passion, want to go to a club that stands for nothing?
