a couple of their best players, in Davis and Ward, they still had a heap of high end talent.Comment

Giants tried to play an ultra attacking game, which is actually pretty easy to pull apart if you know it's coming. All very predictable. After half time, GWS knew they couldn't make finals so threw in the towel. A bit like the grand final.
They haven't looked settled this year. Whether it's covid or something else, only time will tell.
They have to get a ruckman. Majak daw?Comment

Woeful season from the Giants. What do they do from here ? I’d rather be a swans fan to be honest. Luckily I am !

I can't believe Leon Cameron got a new contract. Sure, they have had some injuries but with the players at his disposal, they should comfortably be entrenched in the 8.
The impression I get is that their players are arrogant and think all they have to do is walk out onto the park and they will win because they are do much better than everyone else. It's likely Cameron and his coaching staff believe this as well.Comment

Maybe their players aren't as great as the common perception of them. Even the guys that have left. It's
not as if any of them have exactly tore it up year after year, and won premierships at their new clubs.
They did seem to be lacking a consistent collective intent this year though.Comment

It may just be (fingers crossed) that Cameron has squandered by some measure the best list ever assembled. Will be very interesting to watch player movement from GWS in the next couple of months, quite a few haven't signed on yet.
Whilst they may grab some early picks by trading out recently acquired first rounders (Hateley, Caldwell, O'Halloran) for the first time ever they are not entering the draft holding multiple first rounders.Last edited by 707; 19 September 2020, 08:42 AM.Comment

The abysmal performance by the Giants this year, and to some extent over their brief existence as a club, impels a rethink of what the true value is of the players to success of a team. GWS have had an endless stream of top talent coming to the club. They have traded off players worthy of a premiership, let alone the ones that remain.
There has to be a greater emphasis placed on the football department as a whole, rather than just the talents of the players, when projecting the chances of attaining a premiership. The competitive desire that is generated at the club and instilled in the players is more important than what the stat sheets might indicate.
Putting together a team that want to play together and want to win is greater than the superficial qualities of the individual players comprising the team. I suppose this can be generalised and labeled the culture of the club. I know that I will be looking more in this direction when evaluating a club and its individual players, particularly for the Swans. The goal is to build a quality team, not merely a collection of quality players.Comment

Titus is in his usual great form....this is his entire preview of the Hawthorn v Gold Coast match:
"Who cares?"
Also, his summation of Gary Ablett snr's rant on Covid is spot on:
"There was a bit of Geelong news when former superstar Gary Ablett Snr posted a rant claiming COVID was fake.
This was hardly news, remember when the Herald Sun gave him a two page column to deny evolution and claim all the problems in the world are the result of people not worshipping god?
A lot of people said they were concerned about Gary’s mental health, but I’m a bit more worried about the damage these views have on the rest of us, as it’s this nonsense that will lead to people in Melbourne being locked up even longer.
And before people jump in and say, we’ll don’t promote what he is saying, it’s out there everywhere, and people need to point out these views are not only flat out bonkers, but harmful."
Gary snr has a great footy story.....as for his life after footy? Not so great....
