Agree. I don't see Dawson being an Andrew Gaff type, doesn't have the same tank for a start. I do see Stephens with the potential of a Gaff.

I am also expecting a breakout season with Armarty as well.

Doesn't have the tank? Are you kidding me?

The point is that he is a perfect wingman. Which you seem to agree with.

The only other really recognised wingman is Gaff, hence the comparison.

I love Dawson as a player, great mark, superb kick - but is he all that fast?
It's a pretty important attribute on the wing - doesn't exclude him from playing there, but it'd be handy.

So in the last few posts he has been said to have not much of a tank and now no speed??

I must be watching a different player.

I think that you need to read the posts more carefully. I said that I believe that Dawson doesn't have the same tank as Gaff. I'm speaking in the present tense. He may still improve to Gaff's level but you must be kidding if you think they presently have the same tank.

Dawson is a rare beast in that he is pretty even across all the attributes a true utility player needs. I have never noticed whether he is quick or slow. He covers the ground pretty well and last season found the knack of being in the right places at the right time. Frankly I think he is wasted as a wingman. He will continue to be played here, there and everywhere. Not a true centre square mid but playing through there as a forward and back option. Pretty handy to have one of these types. He looks to be the old fashioned ruck rover.

He glides across the ground and gets to the right places because he has one of the best tanks at the club.

Why do you feel he is wasted on the wing? Surely locking down that spot is better than him being played here, there and everywhere.

Inside/outside mid is his spot. The olld Ruck Rover position. He is suited to that. He can get the ball, receive the ball and deliver the ball. Has all three key areas covered. McInnerney and Blakey on the wings.

I agree. I waswatchi match play and Amartey looked very good.

Dawson does not need to be like Gaff who is all energy and effort. The beauty about this bloke is his, ability to coast, identify where to be, get there and impact play. His delivery is as much a weapon as a nuclear missile

More value in a variety of roles.

I agree that if Dawson feels comfortable being a multi-positional player, then he becomes even more valuable. Nearly every game has a player going down with injury, especially with the stricter concussion protocols, so having a player who can slot in and fill the gap is very handy.

So what, it should be stored in a bunker and never used?
                                I hope not.
His kicking I meant - not the nuclear missiles.
