Nice one! I'm willing to bet that video will be watched many times over the next few years.

A cinematic tour de force. I thought I was watching the latest Lars von Trier film.

        More importantly, can he?

If he can't, I'd like to believe he's come to the wrong club.

I have a question. Why on earth was he started up forward when he has been playing very well in the backline?

Yeh I really didn't understand that at all. We weren't particularly short of target up forward that we really needed him up there.

Still wonder if there was more to the incident then we know, as seemed to come out of very little.

Unacceptable and concerning. I expect him to cop whatever punishment he has coming to him without complaint. Given the injury seems to be much less serious than with Gaff/Brayshaw, I would expect the punishment to be significantly less - but that's just luck that has saved him.

I think he will have done his chances at mid-season draft, whatever they've been, real harm, even if he gets only a couple of weeks suspension. (What does intentional/head high/medium impact (which is generous) get? What if it's high impact?) It's good that he's got Tom close by. While my sympathy lies with Aaron Black, I am also concerned for Paddy's mental health after this incident.

I agree with stevo that it is important to inquire why he acted with so little discipline. One possibility that comes to mind is that he has been impacted by the many concussions he has suffered. It is common for people with acquired brain injuries to be impulsive and reactive.

The problem for us is that, if we are interested in drafting Paddy, we don't want to miss a chance to get him relatively cheaply. If we wait until the end of the year, we may have to spend an ND pick on him. On the other hand, we have been prepared to take that risk until now so no reason we won't continue our restrained/patient approach, despite the fact we could really use a quality KPP.
Well, if we want him in the Mid Season draft he will fall through to us much easier now.

I have faith that Paddy and Tommy will be the greatest key defensive brotherly double act since Wakelin and Wakelin.

                Paddy McCartin

WATCH: Paddy McCartin in hot water for brutal VFL punch

Anyone know anything about what happened here?

In the brief footage available, it looks like Paddy was being annoyed by the Geelong player so he took the matter into his own hands.

Certainly looks like it, not a good look. I did wonder why he only had the 1 disposal for the game. Must have been benched after it.

He hurt his hand in another contest early in game. Not long after that incident. Longmire said he fell on his thumb.

If McCartin gets a long suspension as most are predicting then its going to be hard to justify selecting him on the mid-season draft with so little exposed form. Is playing a couple of games enough to justify it?

                          Paddy McCartin Statement (sydneyswans.com.au)

I think he can kiss goodbye his chances of being drafted mid-season.

Nevertheless, I wish him resilience to come back again and win back people's trust.

Out of character obviously. Wouldn't write him off just yet.

I know he just punched someone in the head but I kind of feel sorry for Paddy McCartin? His career may be all but over now after working so hard to come back
