I can’t add much but I can tell you we lost. I walked passed Laids after having dinner and asked him how the reserves went. He said “No good today but it was only a practice match.”Comment

The Club has posted VFL update with Jeremy Laidler
Not much details but mentioned a few who could be selected for AFL matches -
"“Will Hayward came back and his attitude was second to none,” Laidler said.....
20-year old Dylan Stephens, who made his AFL debut in 2020 along with experienced duo Sam Gray and Ryan Clark were also amongst the AFL listed players who ran out for the reserves on Saturday and Lewis Melican and Hayden McLean were also impressive."Comment

The AFL has amended the VFL rules after some coaches kicked up a stink
It has been determined the re-set rule in the 2021 VFL Competition will no longer require:
- Reset at Kick Ins
- Have a player stationed in the Goal Square at Kick Ins or Boundary Throw Ins
- Have three players Inside 50 at Kick Ins or Boundary Throw Ins
However, the following will be required:
- Two players to be stationed inside 50 metres at each Boundary Throw In stoppage
- A minimum of two Players from each team to be stationed Inside 50 metres at all Boundary Throw Ins. The officiating Umpire will not recommence play until all players are in position. Where a team fails to comply at a Boundary Throw In within 12 seconds, a Free Kick shall be awarded to the Player of the opposing Team at the point of the stoppage.

I'm pleased that they've largely caved. I thought the original changes were ridiculous. It seemed like they were adding an extra couple of layers of time wasting bureaucracy and taking away a large amount of running attack.Comment

Deliberate non compliance by both teams as a protest against the netball rules! Given how the game is being played and the high scoring at senior level, WTF are they persisting with these stupid rules for the ECFLComment

I'm really looking forward to the start of the new VFL East Coast Comp in a couple of weeks. We will see the Swans players who are not in the current 22 and gauge the depth we really have and how they are progressing and challenging for a place in the Swans 22. Swans seem to be taking this comp with a grain of salt as there is very little info on practise games nor is there any mention of the squad on the Swans website, sort of like the attitude they took with the NEAFL team.Comment

We're going to play a scratch match against GWS on Friday. If anyone knows details about when/where, please share. All opinions are not equal. Some are a very great deal more robust, sophisticated, and well supported in logic and argument than others. -Douglas Adams, author (11 Mar 1952-2001)Comment

Good Luck with that request. I cannot find any details of the scratch matches that we have supposedly played over the last three weeks other than Franklin kicked a behind in half a match. There would have been twenty odd other Swans and also Giants playing but nothing reported except for a fact free statement by Laidler.Comment
