I think we were the big winners in the Daniher non-trade.

            Great effort bloods!

Hickey was really good - better thank I thought he would be.

The young blokes all great too. Mills - excellent - should be a permanent midfielder now

Hickey has the big surprise packet for me, in the couple of games so far. Much more skilful than I thought he was. To a lesser extent, the same with Warner. I thought he was going to be a bit of bash and crash type, but he's got some real moves.

Not sure we have a mid who can go with Lachie Neale either. Zorko will be a handful. Nightmare stuff thinking about Melican matching up on one of Daniher or Hipwood. SOS

Our midfield is no better. Hickey terrible in the last game. Gave Parker and Kennedy no chance. Kennedy looked slow too. Mills needs to be better than he was, but im expecting him to take a while to settle into the role. Florent was good, hope he plays more inside. Put Blakey inside too. Can't just stand on the outside expecting easy balls to come out we are a bottom four team with a bottom four midfield he wont get any easy balls. if thats how we are going to play him better to just leave him out or he will just be a bystander again. Rowbottom needs to find the ball more. If his plan is to win 17 disposals every week like last week then forget about it, we need more than that from one of our main mids. Hope Warner plays. Nothing to lose giving kids like him a run. Get Heeney in there to give our mids a spark. Another one who will just be wasted if he sits on the 50m arc waiting for the ball to come to him. Our inside 50 numbers are terrible and he'll never get it coming in clean enough to get the best out of him. Put him where the action is.

Will be a good lesson for us and we can still take a lot out of it. Good luck to the debuts.

                  That was an absolute dream!

Mills, Gulden, Wicks, McDonald, Hickey, Rowbottom, Heeney all brilliant!

Parker showed a lot more forward than mid. Can’t have him and Mills in there together, too slow. 70/30 forward/mid would be ideal.

Cunningham absolutely destroyed Charlie Cameron. To those saying Ling will overtake him, think again!

I have posted all my positives throughout this thread, for which there are many, but one negative ... Kennedy ... hard to see a role for him moving forward. Absolute warrior and hero of the swans, and one of my all time favourites (especially after the 2016 GF) but I think this year may have the touch of the Ryan O'Keefe's about it for him. Could be his last in a bit of un-glorious way. I hope I am wrong and he can adapt, especially with the longer games and the 22 rounds.

Forgot Warner. Absolute ripper of a game from him too.

Hickey 23 disposals (14 contested) at over 80%, 9 clearances. If we get that week in, week out ...

What’s great about that is how fast and skilful the side was, and it didn’t have McInerney or Stephens in it (or Bud by the way). And nor did Campbell have a big game.

They’re going to have ups and downs this year, but that was an unbelievable performance.

Nervous start, converting to brilliance and great cohesion.
Fantastic start to the season. What a gang of youngsters we have! I think they inspired the old blokes.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

The best start to a season I can remember since we last played 3 debutants in round 1 - 1990 - I was there.
