I hope he didn't take my advice and watched that. Might even find a few positive things to say - surely!

              I stand corrected.

              Mills was bloody good tonight!

I always love it when you go to the footy and don't expect too much and then something hits you from right field like that tonight.

The lions were well below their best - sure. But in particular in the 3rd we made them look pedestrian and our footy at times was absolutely scintillating.

I still expect a hit and miss season and a lot of growing pains - but how can one not be excited by some of what we saw tonight. We have some cygnets that can go damn hard, and have silky class to go with it.

Bring on the ride if tonights preview is anything to go by. This is going to be fun!

Yes, I loved the speed and skill tonight. The Lions are noted for their pace out of the contest and slick ball movement, but for extended periods tonight, they just couldn't go with us. A lot of our instinctive, in traffic ball movement, was really pretty to watch. And it was great to see us hit so many targets.

Mills was great in the midfield; especially in the third quarter. And he must have enjoyed running forward to get a couple of goals. And speaking of running, according to the tracker, he ran further than anyone else, with 14.7km. Never really thought of him as an athlete, but it seems that he is.

None had ever done both, until Errol Gulden tonight.
One of the better debuts that I've seen. I suspect his Rising Star odds will soon be shortened a few points.

I remember Liz posting (do you remember this Liz?) after she'd seen Errol in an U16 game that he would play R1 in 2021 for us - Liz was right and what a game!

Really? Didn't expect it to be quite so quick and large. Perhaps a few big punters have gone hard?

Absolute warrior and hero of the swans, and one of my all time favourites (especially after the 2016 GF) but I think this year may have the touch of the Ryan O'Keefe's about it for him. Could be his last in a bit of un-glorious way. I hope I am wrong and he can adapt, especially with the longer games and the 22 rounds.
Seriously? Notorious for his slow starts. Even so, still influential at times. Remains one of the first selected.

The problem with death riding your own team is you feel sheepish about celebrating because you've been proven wrong.

This was one for the true believers.

All the debutantes are both elite talents and mentality strong. This feels sustainable.

I do remember posting that, but it was after an U18 game. It was his first academy game at U18 level (while he was still a 16yo, as he has a mid-year birthday) and despite being the youngest player out there, was comfortably BOG. It wasn't so much about skills, fitness, hardness, work-rate but just a sense he exuded that he really understood the game, and that the step-up to the next level was nothing to him. Now that everyone has seen him step up with ease to senior football, you can understand why I made that call.

I'm wishing I'd been bolder, and predicted not just that he'd play round 1 2021 but that he would be a serious contender for the RS nomination.

Yeah, anyone writing Kennedy off does so at their peril. Tonight showed us that we have moved past the point of needing him to be influential to have a chance of winning a game, but there will be games during the year when he will step up and control things. It won't always be so smooth for the younger brigade.
