I just watched the second and third quarters again, and there certainly wasn't a single player tagging Neale. It was almost the opposite, in that, at ball ups, there were a wide range of players standing next to Neale: Kennedy, Parker, Mills, Rowbottom, Florent and even Blakey.
I won't be sold on this rule until someone can explain why Braeden Campbell's goal wasn't allowed and how that is good for the game. The commentators said it was because he went inside the protected area. Does that mean the end of all the long range goals from the likes of Buddy and Dawson from hand offs? I don't think that is such a great thing.
Can anyone enlighten me please?
I thought the protected area rule only applied to the side without the ball?
He was solid. Just didnt stand out to me. Assisted in a few goals and laid a few strong tackles but didnt have much of an impact. Not easy playing with a knee complaint and i would know.

You say im obsessed with him. Didnt mention his name. You brought him up. I said he was solid. Not a stand out. Jury’s out on his midfield craft plus he was playing injured. He’ll miss this week and come back through the VFL. Who knows might do him good.

Lol, your judge, jury and executioner sent him to the gallows 6 months ago.Now he doesn't have 'midfield craft' - or should we file such crap alongside your other qualitative nonsense like 'lacking AFL class's or 'not AFL standard's from previous posts.
I'd love to know the back story behind the blinkers....

Wouldn't matter how good a game he had, will never be satisfied..... Simple as that.
Would need to kick 12, have 19 tackles, 47 hitouts and 8 clearances, plus 73 possession before someone might even concede a cm of ground.
It's truly bizarre.

Exactly. It seemed a little bizarre last night. I would love to see just 2 or 3 consecutive seasons with no rule changes.
We could only dream for such an occurrence. I think this year's rule changes in totem will be a positive, but only time will tell.
Hope we don't see too much of that nonsense we saw several times last night of them calling back play when they've played on but just not quite from the right spot... They want to speed up the play but in the same breath be overly pedantic.
I'm not sure I like just how much players can arc off the mark before play on is called. But that'll settle down I expect.
