Our Bloods have a young list - they play with freedom and excitement without the weight of expectation. Debutants, so exciting. Their inclusion will make our champion players Joey Parks and Ramps lift. Young Swans ready to take the next step and become star Swans. It all starts here. We have been building for a couple of years and our rise up the ladder has to start with an unexpected win that nobody saw coming - why cant that be this week??
These types of games are all about the senior players. If the senior players all lead by example the young ones will follow.

Well, we did match GWS when the decision was made to match GWS, in that third quarter. The fourth quarter was clearly about managing players and reducing risk while still getting some match conditioning and combinations in play. I'm always cautious about reading very much at all into these preseason 'games': we simply don't know what the overall and individual riding instructions were.

Yes we did match GWS in the 3rd quarter when we had the proper structure in place. It was an impressive 3rd Quarter. I don't expect to beat Brisbane but I would not be shocked with a win,

Brisbane will give us a hiding. Our bad luck to draw them first up. Much better team than us. Dont reckon we have a tall who can go with O Mcinerney. Not sure we have a mid who can go with Lachie Neale either. Zorko will be a handful. Nightmare stuff thinking about Melican matching up on one of Daniher or Hipwood. SOS

Our midfield is no better. Hickey terrible in the last game. Gave Parker and Kennedy no chance. Kennedy looked slow too. Mills needs to be better than he was, but im expecting him to take a while to settle into the role. Florent was good, hope he plays more inside. Put Blakey inside too. Can't just stand on the outside expecting easy balls to come out we are a bottom four team with a bottom four midfield he wont get any easy balls. if thats how we are going to play him better to just leave him out or he will just be a bystander again. Rowbottom needs to find the ball more. If his plan is to win 17 disposals every week like last week then forget about it, we need more than that from one of our main mids. Hope Warner plays. Nothing to lose giving kids like him a run. Get Heeney in there to give our mids a spark. Another one who will just be wasted if he sits on the 50m arc waiting for the ball to come to him. Our inside 50 numbers are terrible and he'll never get it coming in clean enough to get the best out of him. Put him where the action is.

Will be a good lesson for us and we can still take a lot out of it. Good luck to the debuts.

Just thought I would post an interesting stat. We have 33 players on our list who were drafted by us between 2012 and 2020 (9 drafts). Of those, unless there's a big surprise, 18 of the selected 22 will have come from those last 9 drafts.

It shows how draft reliant we have been in our rebuild, and just how good our drafting has been. We've also traded out a fair number of players who were drafted by us during these years (Jones, Nankervis, Membrey, Cameron, Aliir, Newman).

It also seem extraordinary in these times that only 10 players on our list did not come from these last 9 drafts.

            Welcome to Plan L

Just for the record -TheBloods - I think we will give it a real shake. I be disappointed if its a margin greater than 4 goals.

Yep. I think if we bring the right energy and are first to the ball, then anything is possible on the weekend. I'd love to see us take some risks and apply pressure for four quarters. I'm starting to believe we've got the right bunch going forward. Go Swans!

200mm of rain predicted will probably help keep the scores close, if they don't drown.

While Papley was facing the press this morning talking about his 100th game, it has been all quiet for Hewett who is also sitting on 99 games. It looks more likely that Hewett will not play this round. Hope that Hewett can celebrate his 100th game at SCG next round.

I would say Hewett is short of a run.

Can we give Paps some serious love for reaching 100 games.

For a bloke plucked a year after his ‘normal’ draft year as a rookie pick we had to scramble to raise funds for, he’s been sensational.

Probably the best small forward in the comp after Cameron, as cheeky as they come, gets under the skin of opposing sides, relentless in his efforts, a lock in the side every week and looks as though now he’s decided to stay, a massive part of the culture.

I hope he kicks a bag.

                            200?. Think you've added a zero.

He may not have.... Isn't that over a few days?

Later: Just checked.....20 to 40mm on the day. A zero was added.

Here's another that popped up. Again, great parents.....you can hear as much relief as joy in their voices. The parents of elite sportspeople put in so much effort for their kids.....it's great to hear their emotion (and pride) from the results of their investment of love. Great stuff!
