A nice result overall - but I fear we may be exposed pretty quickly next week by Richmond. Like last week against the Lions, our last quarter was just ok at best, a little alarming at worst. Fitness will improve, but good teams will expose us and I think we are looking a bit more rocky at the back this season (though you can make exactly the same comment about every club I'd expect!

But I don't want to be negative, and want to focus on the positives as there were again plenty of them today. Thought Campbell had a cracker today - he is so composed already and love his use of the ball, his willingness to trust his foot too over using the handball too much. Warner continues to impress. Dawson had a nice game again after a quieter game last week. McInerney showed again why a lot of us enjoyed what he did last year - slotted in quickly. Mcdonald and Gulden again in the thick of it.

          And Buddy was back!

Good day out at the SCG, and while I'm intrigued to see what we can do next week, looking a bit further forward, we are a decent chance to be something like 4-2 after 6 rounds if we play well in coming weeks, which would be a very solid start to the season indeed.

Biggest bugbear - Matt Nicholls. He has taken over the mantle from Razor Ray as most frustrating 'it's all about me' umpire in the game.

Our average score per game last year: 52.4.
Our average score per game this year: 123.

Took foot off the gas in the last quarter and a few silly plays that’ll seriously hurt us against Richmond.

But an all round terrific effort. Young guys superb again. I know there’s a lot of excitement around the three picks from last year and rightly so. But boy did our recruiters get it right with Warner and McInerney.

We will have some ups and downs this season as our depth gets tested and the young bodies get tired, but we are so on the right track long term.

Great to be back at the scg. Swans looked the goods. Umpiring extremely frustrating and inconsistent. My biggest concern is our defence looks shakey. Could easily be exposed next week against Richmond. Need another big defender I feel

Best part about that game was there's still so much room for improvement

Great to winning at the SCG too, despite those blasted umps.

So far so good. All teams are adjusting and we have exploited the rule change coz we were already planning this style of play for the last 1 year.
But we have elite skills. Except maybe not elite endurance and maybe our decision making under pressure is certainly not elite. But the uncontested ball game and the overlap play is amazing along with the elite kicking skills.

We are on the Right track and we may get a bit better with decision making ... but so will all the teams. Let’s see how we go when we turn from the hunters to the hunted team.

Next week center bounce clearance would be very very important and let’s see if we bring the tag back. Bring on the Tigers !

Maybe put Sam Reid back for larger portions of the game next week. Buddy won’t get much goals next week unless he shows the mongrel in him. It still seems we are buddy centric and when we kick to him - he does not have lead up space and it is way above his head - and he is not a very good overhead mark

I think our good attacking play so far this year has overshadowed a bit of defensive creakiness thus far. Only really McCartin has looked outstanding so far. But I think all teams are feeling quite exposed down back at times, and we are no different in that regard - it will take coaches 1/2 season to suss out ways to conquer the impact of the rule changes.

Good win - expected I guess but we need to win those ones.

I think Buddy will play next week - he look OK at the end of the game so may as well play him.

I think we really miss our intercepting capabilities of mills and Alliir

Rowbottom back for next week, so maybe Hewitt back again?

                                Awesome

Warner and Mcinerney are our best young players imho

Gulden and Mcdonald are great as well
