Let's Get LOUD aka the match day experience thread (split thread)

I agree.

Some of us who sit in the Brewongle (where sound is particularly nauseous) pay quite a lot for our memberships. Many of us donated that payment to the club last year without seeing a single game live.

Keep this up and sitting at home watching from the sofa, and spending our money elsewhere, will be an attractive alternative.

Yep. It's not like there aren't 10 Swans fans who watch the games on TV for each one that goes to the games already. It's the pithy
form letters and the lack of a reply to complaints at all that offends. It's like talking to a bank. I'm not that surprised to be honest.
I know the Swans (and other AFL clubs) push the "we're all in this together" malarkey and try to make out they are some sort of
community club. But they aren't. Anyone who has been involved with a lower leagues or junior club will know that. That by the way
is an experience I would recommend.

Thank you for taking the time to write to the SCG about your recent experience in our venue. We had several fans provide feedback regarding the sound levels, principally at the top of the Churchill-Brewongle Stand, from last week's Crows game. May I ask please if this is where you were seated?



We have passed your comments onto the Swans who control both the PA content and volume at their matches. The Swans have provided me with the following response for you regarding the situation.



NOISE COMPLAINTS

Thanks for your email and your feedback in relation to the sound levels in your seating area on Saturday.



The Sydney Swans are playing music after goals to add to the celebration of members and fans in the venue. The Club has worked to select songs which suit each player individually to add to the atmosphere – the Club’s aim is to turn the SCG into a home fortress and give our players an extra edge when in front of the home crowd.



The levels of these speakers are set prior to the crowd arriving and are tested thoroughly. For the next home game, we will be reducing the levels across the venue. If you notice they are still too loud, please alert the closest Customer Service representative in your seating area and we can then adjust the sound levels in real time from the Stadium Control Room.



We’ll continue to collect feedback through the next few weeks and if we can get the speaker volumes to be more spectator friendly, we hope the music can add to the experience for the majority.

I am confident that the issue will be resolved at the next game and with the team starting the season in such great form, I hope you will be there to see it, but hear a bit less.

I not the implication that there is a trade-off involved in terms of satisfying all people by getting the volume right. Who wants the music at all? Which fans a demanding the songs be played? Pure spin.

It was so loud last week that I had to put my headphone on. However, I guess different generations may have different reactions to these. I have noticed quite a number of the "fans" spending more time with their smart phones than watching the actual play ! Or some just wasting time with getting their drinks and get drunks. While most of us who have followed the games for years hate the loud and distracting music, there are some who "enjoyed" the mindless blasting of "noise"and got "high" for that.

I was very pissed off with that scenario last year - and for my donation (2 memberships - $1500 upstairs in the Brewongle) got two caps & two cheap scarves with my name spelt incorrectly on them.

It was the arrogant assumption that all members would gladly donate their hard earned, during a worrying time In our lives that no one had ever before experienced. If you didn’t donate it you’d be dropped like a hot pie, If you took a discount your membership down graded.
I ended up moving out to the country sooner than expected so I made the decision to give up membership 2021(After 20 years) . I just couldn’t get enthused about a 3 hour drive each way to go to the footy. Thankfully the local team here are called the Swans too so I do have the right coloured gear to wear to their games!

I do hope the club drop the arrogance and listen to the members and address their concerns - they can’t afford to disregard them.

I noticed that in last nights game at Marvel, after each goal by the Pies, there was very loud music played.

So I would suggest that this is a directive from the AFL to all clubs to play this "music" to "increase the game experience".

Maybe, maybe not: but if so, I doubt if the speakers would be cranked up in the private boxes, where AFL officials and their guests, get to enjoy their experience.

Yes, you are. The club is using their landlord to help distribute their form letters. It gets better by the minute.

It seems there are two issues here. One, the volume, and secondly, the need for nonstop noise at all. The volume is indisputably too bloody high. We could not converse after goals or during half time. And if the players are the driving force behind songs after goals ( as the official reply indicated), but I doubt, then perhaps they could be reminded that the comfort of their support is more important than their need to have the hit parade after scoring. As for the half time drivel, I am left speechless

I'll never forget one day in the Trumper we sat behind a group of young ladies - maybe mid 20s. Spent the entire game on their phones pretty much, except for one 15 minute period when one of them spent the time (during a quarter nonetheless) telling her friends in fairly graphic detail (and loud enough that plenty around her could hear) about her 3 male conquests in a day the weekend before....... she didn't like it much when someone from a group in front of them (with kids in tow) quite rightly suggested such talk might be better saved for another time.

Probably all been on Married at First Sight by now. I'm not one to judge, everyone is different - but it was a serious what the @@@@ moment (and I'm only mid 30s so not that much older!)
