No remonstrating. No posturing in the umpire’s face. Just matter of fact. All class.

And I enjoyed the Cunningham effort, to break the tackle and roost the ball downfield.

Reid won that game for us. Florent was great too. Logan just blew it for 4th rising star in a row.
He had observed that people who did lie were, on the whole, more resourceful and ambitious and successful than people who did not lie.

How bloody good is it to beat Essendon! Far from our best tonight, but we found a way to win - a critical thing that the best teams do regularly. There is a lot to like about where we are headed, a lot!

Good to see we can win ugly. Skill level down but we gritted our teeth and dug deep. Important to do that - can't play like first 3 weeks for the whole season.

Great learning experience tonight hats off to Essendon they did their homework and we were forced to revert to the kick it long along the line more than we wanted with Essendon closing off the corridor really well.
Reid probably BOG for mine and the young brigade will be the better for this game.
Essendon played an almost Swan like game with their pressure

I believe his Test bowling average was under 11 too - Bradman did not like him. Fair sportsman - and he would tell you too.

EDIT - I was wrong his Test bowling average was 12.6

I might actually enjoy the replay, more than I enjoyed the live game. Hardly breathed during the last quarter.

Reid and Florent both enormous in that last quarter. So impressed with the improvement in Florent's decision making - has taken a huge leap forward in that regard.

Seriously, we should have won that by 5 goals but when you're 10% off, you come back to the field. So glad to have snatched that one. I think there will be some 'managing' next week.

I want to see him make it at AFL, as I know he is well liked around the club and has worked hard to get to where he has. However, I just don't feel like he is going to take that next step from fringe player to being able to consistently contribute at AFL level.
