Back in 2008, not too many people predicted that Cooney would be winning the Brownlow. Even Cooney, who I don't think attended the ceremony, did he? His, Swans won't be making the finals prediction, will probably have a similar level of accuracy.

Did Cooney by any chance give his reasons why we won't make the 8 from here? (Not that I feel it's a certainty as yet being so early in the season, but bold just the same for him to say with certainty we won't with a 4-0 start).

Dunno, I'm just replying to a comment here. If somebody else would like to fill us in?

He (along with Gerard Healy & Montagna) doesn't believe Hickey had proper prior to be deemed HTB when he grabbed the ball from the throw in. This appears to be divisive decision amongst people on this thread & in the footy world, unlike the HTB in the Geelong v Brisbane game which DID determine outcome of the game. For this reason I can't understand why the Hickey decision has gained so much attention when it occurred on our defensive 50 with 40 secs left, very hypothetical from there on. AFL backing that decision appears within reason.

On viewing replay, I'm perplexed why in the last quarter the umpire called "advantage" after Papley had stopped with his hand up after hearing whistle free paid to Buddy, who was in his kicking distance just outside 50m arc. Surely this would've got equal attention had we lost? The commentators noted the player normally gets the benefit of doubt when they stop like that.
I remember the umpires insisting we’d taken advantage when Paps stopped immediately. Maybe they were expect the old Tom rather than the 2021 version?

From here on we need to win 8 games from the next 18 to make the finals so I would think, more of a chance to reach than not to reach finals.
I guess we will have to see how we reach finals - limp into it because of blistering start to the season or smash into it. But our seniors will make sure that our performance is even through the year and we have a good list of players waiting to come in so I am hopeful to not just limp into the finals.
But it’s for sure the tactics against us would be to prevent the chip passing and it will be important for us to toggle between the Longmire school and Don Pyke school of attack. But stick to the Longmire school of defence.

Now that we have a plethora of quick, outside players in the side, I would like to see us develop a running game in addition to the kicking game we've adopted this year.

Was the food and drink service better after comments made after Crows game. Passed on the negative vibes to company who runs the service.

Its the Bombers supporters DNA. Whenever things don't go their way its someone else fault. Lose a game, umpires fault. Take drugs, everyone else fault.

No, it was actually worse in the Brewongle. Before the game I stood on a line to buy two beers and a pie. There were only four pies in the
warmer. When all four were purchased by a chap in front of me in the line, I left to go to a nearby outlet where they had three sausage rolls,
four cups of chips and something in a cardboard container. However they weren't selling them as their "payment system had crashed" and
they didn't didn't accept cash. During the second quarter my son and his GF went off looking for food and came back with some fake meat
pies. They said they it was the only "food" that was left.
The way the catering works at stadiums is the catering company (at the SCG I'm pretty sure it's a US conglomerate called Delaware North)
pays a large advance to the stadium operator (in this case the SCG Trust) and then is pretty much left to their own devices to recoup their
advance and then hopefully make a profit. The Trust doesn't care about the terrible service as they've already been paid, and the catering
conglomerate won't be able to care because their company is so big now most of their organisational structure is completely ineffective.
Staff training will be close to non-existent, inventory management likewise and the few people that used to care will have given up a long
time ago. It's not capitalism at it's worst, just at it's most inefficient. Moral of the story ; take you own food to the SCG.

It was a disaster on L4 of the Noble stand. Three times as many people serving food as alcohol. Took about 10 minutes to get a beer. They actually sent the RSA guy up to say there were more bars on L2 and it was quicker to go down and bring the drinks back up.

Having just been to the MCG, I can confirm that the SCG is an embarrassment from a getting a beer in a reasonable amount of time POV.

Thought Sam Reid was the best big man on the ground, marking, kicking goals, intercepting and some great ruck work. Surprised he's got such little coverage in the media. His best start to a year for some seasons.

Dons were very good most of the night and outstanding in the final quarter - was a great effort to withstand that pressure and win so many crucial contests. Nice to win the close ones, but gee I had got kinda used to relaxing through the final quarters with the comfortable margins...

Did you see how Heeney broke his hand? He punched a Bomber in the head
So maybe "unlucky" is not an appropriate adjective when discussing this injury!
