Yep, six changes is not good for continuity: so it might have to be a grinding win, rather than overwhelming them with slick ball movement. Then again, if Sinkers gets on top in the ruck, then maybe we can get plenty of fast inside 50s, from Warner, Rowbottom, Parker, Mills, etc. And perhaps give Papley the occasional run in the middle, just to boost that.

Wow did not see that coming ! Danger Written all over this one ! With ex swans coach in suns camp.
But if we win the middle we win the game. Too much fire power up forward with good marking ability.
But equally if they get the upper hand in the middle they will burn us. Hopefully Hayward clamps down lukosius.
McInerney goes to halfback and I think that would probably be enough to get the run from back half. He is tall, will be accountable and fast so will rebound well.
Rowbottom on the wing.
But who is the medical sub? Is Heeney our medical sub? Coz it cannot be McLean Sinclair or Brand. I don’t mind that. Heeney cannot play the entire game but if Papley is gingerly and is the most likely to be subbed out - in comes Heeney. But geez - Heeney, Papley, Wicks - three injured players in front half is going to be a problem.
Return of Rowbottom will allow Parker to play in front half and he may get a few goals hopefully. Similarly Dawson and McInerney will have to drift forwardComment

Med sub has to come from the four emergencies. And the VFL lineup shows that Campbell will be itComment

Some random thoughts:
- Interesting Swans line up this game. But if we're serious about being top 8 this year it has to be a win.
- You'd imagine with our lack of KPDs Mills, Reid and even Heeney or Hayward will need to spend extensive periods in defence.
- Blakey has to have a big game in the next few weeks, otherwise he needs an extended stint in the ressies - Hayward style. He hasn't shown any consistency since starting his career.
- Was Heeney's hand ever confirmed as broken? No way you recover from a broken hand in 16 days.

Wonderful selections by the match committee. Outstanding work.
I’m assuming McCartin will be back next week. Good to give him a rest as well as only 21.
McDonald and Campbell needed rest. Now they will be fresh for tough games against Geelong and Melbourne. Well done match committee.
I don’t know what’s going on with Stephens? He must be lacking versatility and one on one defensive skills. You would have thought if Campbell went out then Stephens could easily slot into the half back flank.
I would like to see Heeney spend some time as spare man in defence. Brilliant at that job as he reads the ball amazingly through the air and distributes well.
Could Dawson just take every kick in? He has a Bryson DeChambeau weapon of a left foot while Lloyd is laying up. Why don’t we have someone with DeChambeau capability taking every kick in. It stretches the field for the defence.Comment

We just have to decide who replaces Campbell as the 7th defender. McInerney has been mentioned and seems a good one for generating rebound, although you wouldn't say that defence is his forte. Maybe Florent will spend some time in in the back line.Comment

Looks to me, that every time he gets the ball, he has 10 options swirling around in his head...And often goes for the cute, most ambitious option, with limited success.
IMO, he needs to forget the razzle dazzle, and simplify things...Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it's time to pause and reflect... MTComment

Run from defence is my concern.
Melican and Brand are not good kicks or runners; Hewitt learning the gig and slow; Lloyd knows the game but it would not surprise me if The Suns recognise his role and tag him.
Big games for Cunningham and Dawson neededComment

I get what you're saying, but I don't think it's about height. Whilst Melican may be taller than Rampe I'd have Rampe down as a better KPD. With two "lesser" KPDs I'd much rather have another mid-sized defender who excels in intercepting like Mills, Reid or HeeneyComment

Relax on Heeney.....Horse reckons his specialist ticked him off to play. He should be fine.

No issues with Stephens missing. Watched the replay of last week and the break down of structure cost us the game , pretty much Kelly was his man He needs a full week anyway in the VFL . Will be a gun but needs to learn structure first .

After losing Hickey, Franklin and possibly Papley, I doubt there’ll be any unforced omissions.
With that in mind, and following, the form I saw in the VFL prematch, I believe we’ll see:
Sinclair for Hickey
McLean for Franklin
Rowbottom or Clarke if Papley injured.
Doubt Bell will go in ahead of the other two, although he did a lot right on Saturday the others were far more effective.
Well I got a great laugh out of this one.
Only six changes of which 3 are unforced. 50%. Some may say that’s a pass mark.
Great to see Heeney back so early but I recall last year Rampe playing with a glove and having to miss the rest of the season. Sorry, glass half empty again.
McCartin is huge loss especially with Rampe still unavailable and Fox nowhere on the horizon.
I thought they may persist with Stephens given his few chances this year but it was on his watch that Kelly kicked the winning goal so he may have been the one to fall on his sword.
Brand gets his chance, as someone already said he’ll probably go to King so good luck with that.
We’re lucky that they have no ruckmen left because I find it hard to see Sinclair as our tap ruckman. Relieving out of the forward square has been his strength but when we’ve had to rely on him to give us clean possession I’ve been disappointed.
Fingers crossed. We need to win to consolidate our great start and prepare for the coming tests against the Cats and Demons.Comment

Lloyd is my black spot. A fine player and much better one on one these days, I still have a problem with his intent. When he gets clean possession, he stops, goes back and immediately looks outside. The pace of the game and the quality of our smalls up forward lends itself to rapid movement. I feel he may locked in a previous game plan and needs to be more proactive.Comment

If you watch the replay from behind the goals, you'll see it was Lloyd and McInerney who left Kelly unchecked at the contest. Stephens and Campbell were just first on the scene.Comment
