Personally I'd much rather McLean than Sinclair and the good news for us is that Gold Coast Suns are in the same position without a decent ruck. We need to be able to hold off for 2-3 weeks until Naismith is back.

    Out: Hickey, Logan, Campbell
    In: McLean, Rowbottom, Bell/Stephens

Bell and McLean looked great in the VFL so they'd be on my list for a call up first, but Stephens deserves a run at it too.

Not a Melican fan but thought he wasn't as bad as others were saying. I'd give him another week to prove himself, otherwise we have Brand waiting in the wings.

We have to stick with Melican as have no one else.

      In: Sinclair
      Out: Hickey

Am keen to see how Logan goes this time. If he struggles then swap him for McLean.

Longmire mentioned that McDonald was a bit off the last two weeks so I reckon he might get a rest. He will be back soon enough. Campbell also was down and played just the 62% game time.

There’s no doubt that Rowbottom will come back in. We missed his extra step of pace in the guts last night.

I'd prefer to keep Campbell. He offers a valuable counter-punch on the rebound.

I thought McInerney was a bit of a weak link. He seems a bit slight for the really physical games.

I'd leave him out for Rowbottom.

If like to see Amartey for Hickey, Rowbottom for Wicks, O'Riorden for Melican.
He had observed that people who did lie were, on the whole, more resourceful and ambitious and successful than people who did not lie.

I thought it was notable that when Sinclair was suggested in the presser as a replacement for Hickey that John mentioned McLean and Amartey. I wonder whether they'll go with a Reid/Amartey combo. I think McLean should come in for McDonald. Buddy definitely plays again.

Out - Logan, Campbell, Blakey, Hickey,
In - McLean, Stephens, Rowbottom, Sinclair

Shift Mcinerney to half back, Rowbottom and Stephens on the wing.
Gulden to get rest the next week.

When Heeney is back, can we move Hayward to the wing. He is a good Overhead mark and overall has reasonable endurance as in 2020 he played the most minutes in the team every week. Blakey, Hayward, Stephens, Mcinerney our wingman. I reckon Stephens will be the one needed to have rotations in the middle.

Melican gets one more chance. Sinclair very underwhelming in VFL and GC have no rucks. Campbell and Logan need a break.
                  Outs Hickey Campbell McDonald
                  Ins McLean Rowbottom Stephens

Lloyd or Cunningham going out is ludicrous

Thought the same thing when I watched press conference. Amartey gives us more mobility a la Hickey. Suns have ruck problems so this week could easily be Amartey/Reid.

I was really impressed with Reid playing ruck in the last quarter. He continued with Hickey's work - tidy in the ruck contest and got around the ground really well, with nice disposal. Given GC are having ruck issues, I think it would be worth trying Reid as our ruckman with support from McLean.

Having said that, Sinca's has always done his best for us and is experienced. So I would understand if he is picked as a straight swap for Hickey.

Re resting some of the first year players ; It was interesting that a quartet of GWS youngsters (Ash, O'Halloran, Cumming & Green) all
contributed heavily yesterday. O'Halloran & Green in particular look like men. I think that extra year in the system will make a big difference
to Gulden, Campbell, McDonald when it comes for them. And yeah, best not to give Josh Kelly too much leeway.
