He’ll be back better than ever. Get some confidence, take simple options, keep his feet.
I have this feeling that he’ll completely turn this around. It could even be like Adam Goodes in 2003 compared to 2002.
I think after a while he’ll earn a place in your exclusive young gun club of JMac and Chad.Comment

Would really like Hayward to be either dropped or put back into defense.
He was worst than Blakey, with just 5 possessions last week.
How he keeps his spot in the team is beyond me, one more of Horse favorites.
With the mid season draft, we really need to draft some more defenders; ours are just not up to it when confronted by a tall opposition forward line.doof-doof

Everyone has their favourites, and their anti-favourites. TheBloods isn't alone in that. But I'd be surprised if any match committee could be so easily swayed as you suggest on the basis of favouritism from a coach (imagined or otherwise).Comment

I think Hayward has become a role player / defensive forward who is given a job each week to play on one of the better defenders.
So I’m not sure you can assess his performance based on offensive acts: possessions, goals etc.Comment

He was Pick 26. This is only his second season. He has shown form in some Reserves games for example against the Gold Coast. It will be interested to see what happens to him at year end if he cannot break into the side. Will he go elsewhere or be delisted? Seems highly likely he will go either way.Gould at this point is looking like a total bust , have caught a few reserves matches this yr , in one i forgot he was even out there and in another he looked completely lost it was like watching a young Tadgh back in the day learning the game. Shouldnt be happening to a guy whos been playing all his life and captained his under 18s side to a flag. Just not up to the level. Hes not the first and he wont be the last but its a shame. We used pick 25 on him if i remember correctly , yet another 2nd round pick not amounting to much
He strikes me as lacking athleticism when compared to other defenders of similar height to him. He is not quite tall enough to play on the big forwards but is very strong. He is an in-between player to me. He is slightly taller than Rampe but heavier. He certainly does not possess Ramp's athleticism. Same with a comparison against Fox. He is shorter than Melican who does get the bigger guys.
Labelling him a "bust" at this stage is probably premature, but he clearly has a way to go. I think Ling is looking a clear bust. Taken number 14. Four seasons and still seemingly a long way off being a team regular.Comment

How are Stephens and Campbell going in making your exclusive Swans young gun club?
I assume that Rowbottom along with Blakey are out of contention.
Judging by your previous post Gould is totally out of contention.Comment

Both are quality. Stephens has a tank made for AFL when he finds more of it will be a prolific player. Campbell quick penetrating kick . Dont see either being superstars of the comp but still very good players, McCartin and Dawson too
Papley, Mills also . We have got some great young talentComment

Probably due to lack of other options to come in. If Goulden was fit then he would have that spot.Would really like Hayward to be either dropped or put back into defense.

Good point, Liz, many of new recruits serve a few years in reserves before they get the chance in seniors. It's also a reason we lose players like Darcy Cameron who don't get a game. Maybe under the "new" coaching team, the younger and new recruits seem to be given the chance this season. We are in a new era and we are rebuilding the next premiership shotComment

In: Callum Sinclair, Justin McInerney, Kaiden Brand
Out: Nick Blakey (Omitted), Robbie Fox (Injured), Ryan Clarke (Medi-Sub), Tom Hickey (Injured)
Em: Colin O'Riordan, Joel Amartey, James Bell, Lewis Taylor
On that list, I think COR would be this week's medical sub and one of the others would be a game-day emergency (not sure who)."Unbelievable!" -- Nick Davis leaves his mark on the 2005 semi finalComment
