I don't even like it being used for cricket.

              Agreed

Also looks like Brand, J Mac and Sinclair straight into the side, with one of O'Riordan, Bell or Taylor to be named the sub.

I'm starting to wonder whether Gould will ever get a senior game for the Swans. All of those possible ins and he is not even named among them. It suggests he is way off selectors' radars.

As it will be a Sunday Game, we have an extended bench of 8. Who will be the final 4? (and 5 including the Med Sub)
Not sure if the "order" it has been released mean anything.

                  Swans Site has
[2] Kaiden Brand, [1] Chad Warner, [27] Justin McInerney, [3] Dylan Stephens, [38] Colin O'Riordan, [36] Joel Amartey, [32] James Bell, [28] Lewis Taylor. It is very likely the 4 in front will be selected . But who will be the Med Sub?

Just noticed that the IN/OUT List of AFL site has J.Amartey in front of C.O'Riordan.
Will there be any surprise? Who will be the second ruck? Can Amartey squeeze in? Bell for a Marn Crook Game?

There is a real slow trajectory with both Stephens and Gould. With Gould it must be his post contest work, remaining engaged in the contest and ground ball work. He should get in the team at the end of the year but if COVID problems continue it may throw a spanner in the development.

People forget that, under Roos, it generally took players 2-3 seasons minimum to become established in the senior side, and even getting an early taste was a rare thing. Some of those players who took their time still became good to very good players - ROK, McVeigh, Malceski, for example.

Longmire seems to have been more willing to play youngsters in their first season or two, but it's still been variable. Hewett spent a full two years in the reserves before getting a debut; Dawson the best part of three years before getting regular games, though injury contributed somewhat to that.

On the other hand, some players arrive with a bang and rack up loads of possessions but soon get found out - players debuting at other clubs that fall into that category include Ryan Clarke and Lewis Taylor. Maybe getting early games can lead to (some) players developing bad habits.

Every player develops at different rates, and there's probably only a modest correlation between how well a player goes in his first couple of seasons and how well he carves out a sustained AFL career. If you doubt me, go and look at the list of players who've earned a Rising Star nomination. Plenty of stars, and plenty of duds too.

Looks like McLean gets to do some ruck work this week. Our mids have to be on their game at centre bounces.

Unless he's left out for Amartey tomorrow night.

I have a feeling there is question marks over his endurance levels.

Blakey out means it’s either Amartey or McLean as second ruck. I wouldn’t call Jmac for Blakey like for like.

                              Sinkers for Hickey
                              Brand for Fox
iMac comes in could be at Stephens expense.
I wonder if they’ll give Amartey a crack?

Also will Horse try and tag Walsh? And with who?

Gould at this point is looking like a total bust , have caught a few reserves matches this yr , in one i forgot he was even out there and in another he looked completely lost it was like watching a young Tadgh back in the day learning the game. Shouldnt be happening to a guy whos been playing all his life and captained his under 18s side to a flag. Just not up to the level. Hes not the first and he wont be the last but its a shame. We used pick 25 on him if i remember correctly , yet another 2nd round pick not amounting to much
